Solar cells to be printed on paper?
The Source from this story really caught my attention. The title of it was “solar cells printed on paper”.
This is not the time to say “Nuff Said”. This is the time to figure out how in the world I can download the template of these solar cells, print out a bunch, and wire them to all the appliances an electrical devices in my house. Then I’m calling the power company and telling them that I am officially off the grid, and I am not paying their high bills.

First Solar Powered iPod Speaker
Hammacher is all about being first when it comes to rolling out some rather quirky household items, and this time round we have the First Solar Powered iPod Speaker. Hopefully they’re right, cause we have a niggling feeling that some factory from China has already come up with something similar for the local market in that part of the world. Still, this model enables you to enjoy your favorite tunes when outdoors, relying on the power of the sun to keep it going. You can dock your iPod into the speaker for it to juice itself up. Whenever the panel is closed, it will automatically transform into a device that boasts IPX-4 waterproof rating, resisting splashing water from all angles. Other features include a rugged, rubberized and aluminum body, a couple of 5-watt, full-range speakers for crisp highs, balanced mid-ranges, and resounding, bass-boosted lows. It takes up to 3 hours of solar charging for one hour of use – diminishing returns in some sense, but at least it helps keep the earth green. The First Solar Powered iPod Speaker is going for $199.95 a pop.

There are a great deal of garden lights to choose from if you’re searching for something to add to your plants. Solar-Powered Dress
Gadgets seem to slowly be making their way into the fashion world. Sure, they aren’t really something you see everyday out on the sidewalk, but they are starting to be created a little more. I’m still not sure that I want an electronic dress, but it would be another way to make sure all of your small gadgets stay charged. Whether or not something like this would ever catch on enough to be produced is strongly debatable though.

Powerplus Solar Remote Control
There are just some gadgets that get neglected in the battery department. Usually I’ll do as much as I possibly can to squeeze that last drop of power out of the batteries before I’ll go in search of more. When you’re typically using a remote, you’re all settled into the couch to relax, which makes the idea of getting up to search for batteries rather unappealing. Instead you could pick up one of these solar powered remote controls and never have that concern again.

Sphelar solar cells provide a transparent power generator on windows
What you are seeing here is the Sphelar solar cells. They are made by the Kyosemi Corporation, which debuted at the PV Expo 2010 in Tokyo.
The purpose of the Sphelar solar cells is to improve on regular solar panels. You know how most solar cells are flat, and are at only one angle? That isn’t really an accurate way to collect the sun, but Sphelar solar cells are solidified drops of silicon that can be molded into any shape. For example, they can be placed on a curved dome that allows the sun to hit it from any angle.
As you can see, the Sphelar material is also near-transparent. This allows the user to put it on any ordinary window, and it will make it into a solar power generator. It will also make it slightly tinted, which will keep out the blinding sunlight when it needs to be kept out.
