Site Upgrade

The Coolest Gadgets site has seen an exponential increase in visitors the last couple of months, which is great news so thanks everybody. This has meant we’ve upgraded our hosting package 3 times this month and are on the waiting list for a nice new shiny dedicated server. In order to reduce our memory and CPU usage we’ve implemented a caching mechanism which will greatly reduce database accesses. If you …

Flags and Thanks

England Car Flag

Our England flags give away proved to be very popular and we’ve been busy sending flags all over the world. I was expecting most comments to be from readers in England and was quite surprised when the majority of requests were from abroad. I ended up sending flags out to Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, USA, South Africa, France, India and Malaysia. Thanks again to The Gadget Store for providing the …

RSS Logo

We received a request to include images in our RSS feed. Seems the easiest way for us to do this was by publishing the full text via the feed and not just a snippet, so that’s exactly what we’ve done. So you can now read the entirety of Coolest Gadgets (with images) by subscribing to our feed. As always any comments and suggestions welcome.

SEO Contest for Charity (elursrebmem)

v7ndotcom elursrebmem

My friend Alek is a strong contender for an SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) contest that is currently running. Which ever participant ranks #1 on Google for the word elursrebmem on May 15th is declared the winner. If Alek wins he is donating all the prize money to charity so the least I could do was a post here giving him a few more links. V7ndotcom elursrebmem for Celiac Charity Don’t …

Windows Live Search

As far as online search is concerned, Google remains top on the list for most people. This has been the choice of many because of its fast search engine, enabling it to display result as quickly as possible. However, things are going to change as Microsoft is coming up with its very own Windows Live Search (still beta version), which would offer more relevant search results.
