Panther offers you remote controlled fun

by Edwin

If you’re looking to have some remote controlled fun, then might we suggest the £99.99 Panther? This is touted to be an “amazing, madcap, fearlessly insane remote control buggy” that is extremely nimble, and it is pretty rare to see an RC buggy move along at 45kmh (yes, it is that fast) without losing any of its control in the hands of a true master. Equally at home in both outdoors or large indoor spaces, the Panther would perform best in stylish rally skids and homemade assault courses. Assuming you have a large carpeted area, then the Panther will stick to the floor like a dream and respond to even the lightest touch. Relying on a trigger-style throttle and steering wheel, getting the Panther to respond to your commands is a snap, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a southpaw or not. Two hours of battery charging ought to give you plenty of fun before the next round of charging.

WASP seeks out Wi-Fi and gives it back

by Mark R

If you were to take a look at this thing, you might think it was a giant wasp.

It actually is a WASP, also known as a Wi-Fi Aerial Surveillance Platform It is actually a modified US Army gunnery target drone, and it does fly.

The purpose of this flying guy is to be a Wi-Fi sniffer. It is guided by an open source auto pilot, and it has a lot of equipment to seek out a stable Wi-Fi signal. From there, it can beam it back to its operators via Wi-Fi, RF, or 3G connections. It was recently presented at Defcon 18, a hacker’s convention at Las Vegas.

Kamikaze Go-Kart for action lovers

by Mark R

This is the Kamikaze go-kart, and I have included a video after the jump of it in action. I must issue a warning: the following images could be be considered pornographic.

That is, it’s pornographic if it is action you crave. So if you get off on watching awesome action films like Die Hard, then watch the Kamikaze go-kart slam into some flaming barrels.

Yes, this Kamikaze go-kart isn’t something that you can buy in a store or on-line. It doesn’t look like a full remote control vehicle, but a transmitter, receiver, and actuators. I think all that translates to is pointing it in a certain direction and letting it slam into something.

Facadeprinter can make a large image on a wall, quickly

by Mark R

So what are we looking at here? Is this some sort of weapon of mass destruction for your next paintball game?

No, this is the “large scale communication tool” called the Facadeprinter. It is a “software controlled paintball turret that is capable of blasting a wall with dots of paint traveling at 200 km/h, from a distance of 12 meters away”. The machine is capable of firing 5 paintballs a second, and the colored pixels that it splats on the wall are about 5 to 10 centimeters in diameter.

The artist is able to make such images using SVG images uploaded from a USB flash drive. He also has a touchscreen interface so he can properly line up the gigantic prints. There is a video of this in action after the jump. I highly recommend that you check it out, because it really is something to see.

Radio Controlled excavator

by Edwin

Now here’s a little boy’s toy that ought to get dads all excited as well, since it has something to do with both demolition as well as reconstruction. We’re talking about the Radio Controlled excavator, which is basically an electric replica of an actual excavator rolled out in Italy by Despe. It isn’t light at all – no sir, not when it tips the scales at 28.5 kgs, making it the most formidable remote control reproduction on the market at point of publishing. Of course, for all the realism it offers, it costs a whopping $4,500 which is probably the most expensive remote control toy as well. Apart from that, you will need to purchase its 8-channel radio control separately – what a rip off! This will definitely rake in the chicks at your next beach outing, that’s for sure.
