R2D2 Alarm Clock wakes you with “Help me, Obi Wan Kenobi!”
December 4th, 2008 by James in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Projectors, Wacky GadgetsOkay, not really. But this R2D2 standup alarm clock is bound to attract the Star Wars faithful who’s bedroom at their parent’s house is filled with thousands of dollars in Lucasian memorabilia (wait, that’s Star Trek fans, Star Wars fans actually have lives). Now that I’ve taken the loving swipe at SciFi fans (I kid with love, you know), how can anyone not think that this R2 Alarm clock isn’t the coolest for anyone even with a passing fancy for the SciFi epic?
Sony VPL-GH10 SXRD projector introduced
December 2nd, 2008 by Edwin in Projectors
Sony will be rolling out its VPL-GH10 SXRD high-resolution professional projector pretty soon, and this model was specially designed for the simulation, training and industrial visualization markets. Guess that means you can still use it for your home theater system, but that would just be overkill, like driving a Ferrari around town during rush hour where you’re stuck in first gear all the time. What makes the VPL-GH10 so special? For starters, it will come with Sony’s very own Motionflow high frame rate technology that is able to identify and remove blurry images from fast motion content, giving viewers a much more accurate and realistic image that are essential for these specialized industries.
ViewSonic PJ359w projector targets widescreen applications
November 14th, 2008 by Edwin in Projectors
You know that the notebooks are trending towards widescreen displays when projectors released these days cater to widescreen resolutions, as with the Toshiba TLP-WX100U which we saw earlier, and today we have the ViewSonic PJ359w. Ideal for the classroom, office or on the road, you won’t have to worry about coming up short in your presentations with the PJ359w.
The PJ359w gives presenters peace of mind that their visuals will be of high quality in any environment. With a brightness of 2,000 lumens and a 1280×800 WXGA resolution, the PJ359w creates crisp, detailed images in any lighting situation. The short-throw lens enables large images to be projected from short distances in small rooms; a screen size of 50-inches is possible from just 5.2-feet. The built-in automatic vertical keystone correction of +/-30 degrees ensures that images are perfectly proportioned; and the HDMI 1.3 high definition signal input ensures the best image performance and supports HD signals up to 1080p.
There is no word on pricing for the PJ359w, but each purchase will come with a three-year limited product warranty. There’s a very cool feature about this projector that others crucially lack – the direct off feature that allows you to unplug and store the projector without having to worry about the standard cool down phase, and this also helps prolong lamp life in the event of a sudden power blackout. Neat!
Toshiba TLP-WX100U projector goes mobile
November 14th, 2008 by Edwin in Projectors
Everything is being built to be more mobile these days, and even projectors have shrunk down to unbelievably small sizes compared to the ones of yore. Pico projectors that are meant to be used with netbooks and cell phones for impromptu presentations are starting to come of age, but those are still no substitute for a dedicated projector by any means. Toshiba has introduced yet another projector for business use – the TLP-WX100U which comes with wide resolution that will definitely be a boon to most educators, business users and consumers these days, since many of the notebooks in this day and age come with a widescreen resolution format. details on the TLP-WX100U are available right after the jump.
Sanyo PLC-XW57 ultra-portable 3LCD projector
November 12th, 2008 by Edwin in Projectors
Sanyo’s latest projector would be the PLC-XW57, and this ultra-portable 3LCD projector will target the education and business presentations market with its very capable specifications. Sanyo engineers have really outdone themselves this time round where the PLC-XW57 is concerned, and it will tip the scales at just 6.4 lbs., taking up a minimal amount of space courtesy of its tiny footprint of 13″ x 3.15″ x 9.3″. Now how about that – it is a far cry from the pico projectors that we’ve seen in the past, but at least it isn’t that heavy to not being able to be carried around on your business travels.
More light shed on Optoma Pico Projector
November 6th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Projectors
It seems that tiny projectors are here to stay – there are no two ways about it. Here we have more information regarding the Optoma Pico Projector that measures a diminutive 2″ x 4.1″ x 0.7″, making it tiny enough for you to tote around anywhere you go without weighing you down with its 4.2-ounce weight. Despite its small size, it has decent specifications to show off your PowerPoint slide to a small audience without much problems. Specifications and features include :-
- 480 x 320 resolution
- 9 lumens of brightness
- Minimum projection distance of 8″
- Maximum projection distance of 8′ 6″
- USB rechargeable
- 20,000 hour bulb lifespan
Unfortunately, the bulb is not replaceable. Good thing the Optoma Pico Projector isn’t too expensive at $430 a pop, so purchasing a new one after the old has gone shouldn’t be too painful on one’s pockets.
