Red Bull’s Extreme Promotion includes a 21-foot Eyeball
I thought you might want to see this interesting use of projection technology, even if you don’t like Red Bull.
Red Bull may have sponsored this stunt for extreme snowboarders and skiers, but the projection was designed by a Melbourne interactive group ENESS. You can watch the video of it after the jump, and see the nifty projections on the ramp as well as the 21-foot inflatable sphere in the middle.
In case you are wondering, the snowboards and skiers have an infrared camera tracking them. This explains how the eyeball is able to follow their jump as they go.

MiLi Power Projector for iPhone/iPod
Everyone knows that the iPhone isn’t exactly the most long lasting device in the market – after all, it does tend to run out of juice pretty fast if you use plenty of features and functions such as reading and replying email, surfing the Internet over 3G while listening to a variety of music on the go. There have been cases in the past that includes a built-in battery while offering protection – but the MiLi Power Projector for iPhone/iPod goes one up by offering a built-in projector. Yes, sir, you can project images and video from the iPod or iPhone up to 70-inches in size onto a suitable surface like a wall or screen, but the price to pay – £239.95, might be a wee bit steeper than what you’re used to. Of course, you can also dock it to your iPad, iPod touch, Blackberry and most other media players/phones if the need arises. The resolution is nothing to shout about though, at just 640 x 480 VGA with an LED bulb that lasts up to 20,000 hours.

Acer Canada to roll out new 3D projectors

Acer Canada has plans to introduce new 3D video projectors for the masses in the Great White North, where it is made possible thanks to a clever combination of the projectors’ DLP 3D projection capabilities as well as high refresh rates. Because of that, a flat surface of any wall can be turned into an impromptu 3D screen, just make sure that the color is light enough (white is best) for the best image quality, since a yellow or orange painted wall can be quite disconcerting on the eyes when you project a video. We will take a closer look at the projectors in the extended post.

3M MPro150 pico projector review

Pico projectors seem to catch on these days, but they aren’t exactly taking over the world by storm. The good people over at 3M has sent us a MPro150 pico projector, and after playing with it for some time, I would like to pen down my two cents’ worth and hope that it will help you decide on whether this is the pico projector for you, assuming you were looking for one in the first place. First of all, I must say that technology has certainly advanced at a crazy pace – ask anyone whether something like this is possible a couple of decades ago and they will probably laugh in your face, thinking that you have escaped from a mental asylum while letting you know that there is as much chance of that happening as with a multi-touch glass display used for computing. Let’s get down to the nitty gritty right after the jump, eh?
