Apple announced the new iMac today. It’s not as boxy or ugly as it’s predecessor, thankfully. Dumping the 17” screen in favor of 20 and 24” models, the iMac is made out of aluminum, glass and sports a very thin keyboard that comes in wired and Bluetooth versions, along with 2 stock 2 USB 2.0 ports built in. Under the hood? A 2.4GHz Core 2 Extreme processor with ATI’s Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics card, 1 terabyte of storage space, 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.0, and 1GB of RAM (the new iMacs support up to 4GB RAM). (Catching my breath)

Looks like there are more recall woes for the Japanese company, as Sony just announced yesterday that it will be recalling a fair amount of its Sony Cybershot DSC-T5 digital cameras since discovering that certain units may experience peeling and warping of the metal coating located at the bottom of the camera, resulting in a slight cut or scratch to the user’s skin. Sony also announced that they will not only replace the affected part of the Cybershot DSC-T5, the company would also pay for the shipping costs to those who are affected by this recall exercise.

360 degree lens: surround photography and projection?
July 6th, 2007 by Andi in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Photography, Tech News
The Olympus Corporation of Japan has developed a new camera lens, and a very special one at that. Besides a 360 degree panoramic view, it also offers 45 degrees of vertical visibility.
This way, you get an almost complete coverage of the surrounding area.
They’ve achieved that by creating a free-curved design that is also axially symmetrical. This way, the incoming light is reflected and refracted into a perfect panorama of the surroundings.
This way, a single lens and image source can be used to project an image or animation on more than half of a room’s surface.
Canon Announces New Printers for Photo printing and more
July 3rd, 2007 by James in Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Office Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Photography, USB GadgetsCanon has announced new printers which promise greater resolution and performance as the electronics giant continues to focus on photo printing options for it’s users. The printers include two additions to it’s Pixma Line and a stand alone Photoprinter. The Pixma MP470 and MP210 are all in one printers which cost $100 and $80 respectively. They have an output of 4800 x 1200 dpi, can scan images at 2400 x 4800 dpi, and use a standard USB 2.0 connection.
Also featured is a 1.8″ color LCD (MP470 only), a built-in memory card reader and PictBridge port – which we’ve come to expect in most Canon printers. This means that users can print photos while bypassing a PC connection. In addition, the PictBridge port supports an optional Bluetooth adapter for wireless printing.
