Gorillapod - Your Cameras Flexible Friend

May 11th, 2006 by Al in Photography

Gorillapod Camera TripodThe last tripod we wrote about was the Ultrapod Mini which was good but it has just lost the mini tripod crown to the Gorillapod.

The Gorillapod (the first non iPod gadget with pod in the name) functions like a traditional camera tripod but has bendy legs. This means the tripod can be used on uneven surfaces or bent around objects.

You can get the Gorillapod from Think Geek. for $21.99

Action Camera

You can’t exactly go skydiving, para-sailing or even go karting with an ordinary old camcorder as you kind of need your arms for other things which is probably the reason why Action camera’s have released the ATC-1000 hands free camcorder.

One gadget to rule them all.

April 20th, 2006 by Paz in Audio/Video Gadgets, Photography

The Hanaro Plus Cam

This one gadget that seems to do everything, and I’m wondering if it’s too much. I know convergence is the latest craze in consumer electronics, but this is ridiculous!

When you buy the Hanaro Plus, you get:

• A 1.3 mega pixel digital camera
• A web cam
• A wireless microphone and speaker
• A video camera with 30 frames a second video capability
• A USB hub
• A flash memory reader
• A DVR reader

March 21st, 2006 by Al in Mobile Phones, Photography

Phlash Camerphone Flash
My last 3 mobile phones have all had an inbuilt camera, with each generation improving on the last. One thing I find most camera phones seem to lack is any sort of flash. Well I was obviously not alone in noticing this limitation, as you can now buy Phlash, the world’s first universal Camera-phone flash.

Traveler Digital Camera DC-5080 (5MP with webcam support)

March 17th, 2006 by Keith in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Photography

Traveler DC-5080

For the last one week, I was eyeing on this new model of Traveler digital camera from Germany. For some reason, it caught my interest when I was shopping at Aldi, when they announced a product to be released this week. The Traveler Digital Camera DC-5080 has a 5-megapixel, sufficiently large enough to take really good quality pictures. In addition, the 1.7-inch LCD colour display allows you to see more clearly. Also, it comes with a 4x-digital zoom, which somewhat I feel it would be better if it were to be an optical zoom instead.

Pentax’s new Optio T10

March 1st, 2006 by Keith in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Photography

Pentax Optio T10

For most professional and novice photographers, taking pictures, no matter if it’s digital images or the traditional type, is focusing on your target and clicking the button to snapshot your photo. Well, time have changed and moved on, in fact Pentax have moved further, by creating camera that takes pictures without using shutter button.

Pentax’s new Optio T10 does not need a shutter button to take pictures. In fact, all you need is to look through at the 2.5-inch LCD screen, and utilise the touch screen feature to capture your image. The retail price of the Optio T10 is approximately to be priced around $350 when released to the public some time in late March or early April. Though small in size, the 6-megapixel camera is definitely worth its price for the technology that comes with it. Furthermore, it has a 3x optical zoom to allow users to take pictures from a distance.

When Sony Ericsson released W800i, their very first camera phone designed specifically as a lifestyle gadget with telecommunication capability. The W800i was put together in light of the popularization of MP3 players and a booming industry of online music stores. Although it was not the first camera phone to boast of MP3 playback functionality, it was however the first camera phone to leverage on the Sony ‘Walkman’ branding and along with it, the first ‘Walkman’ camera phone featuring a dedicated MP3 media interface, controls and impressive audio quality; for a phone.

Following months later, Sony Ericsson decides to give the “Walkman” makeover to the brand new W550i. Similar features include user-friendly MP3 playback interface, the signature orange theme, as well as the “Walkman” logo.
