Cellink USB microSD memory card reader

by Edwin

cellink-t.jpg

Cellink of Korea has launched a new USB microSD memory card reader that is built into a mobile charger, targeting the Korean market specifically. The Cellink T doubles up as a portable data storage when you slide it open, and if you need to charge your handset, change it to swing mode instead. In addition, it makes for the perfect intermediary tool to transfer data like photos, videos and music from a phone to PC and vice versa. No idea if this will be exported outside of Korea or not.

Lightshow Stick – communicate with LED messages

by Chris

Lightshow Stick

Sometimes I have to wonder about the people that make certain gadgets. Mostly the ones that have no practical use whatsoever. Take this USB Lightshow Stick for example. Where in the world would you be that no form of communication would suffice other than a stick full of LEDs that you wave around?

If you absolutely must communicate via a waving stick, you’ll need to plan out your messages well ahead of time. The short messages must be uploaded using the USB cable in the form of JPG/BMP images.

I suppose that one could equate this to a giant foam finger for concerts or something. Perhaps load it up with something like “You Rock” and wave it at the band. I’m sure that if you were actually close enough for them to see it, they really wouldn’t get annoyed after 20 minutes or so of it. This pointless gadget will run you $22.

USB Engagement Ring

by Mark R

USB Engagement Ring

Nothing says “I love you” more than the USB engagement ring. Actually, nothing says “I’m too cheap to afford a real diamond ring, but I put a creative twist on this tradition” more than the USB engagement ring.

I always did find it odd that tradition that girls wear an engagement ring that may or may not have this really expensive rock that the groom has to take out a muy expensivo loan for. Why not invest a small amount of money in something a lot more practical?

With a USB engagement ring, you can download some cool stuff onto the drive. I suppose you can download a picture of the groom on one knee proposing, and then show it to anyone with a laptop. Personally, I think there is a lot of reasons to store valuable data on your ring. After all, I won’t easily lose my wedding ring, as I would a thumb drive.

USBee is flexible, stays cool

by Chris

USBee

How many times have you broken a USB flash drive? I’m pretty hard on mine, and I can think of three different drives that I’ve broken. Two of them had the USB connector broken off due to me just being clumsy while the third’s outer casing just kind of fell apart. This is why I usually take interest in any such drives that claim to be resistant to breakage such as this USBee (get it?) concept drive.

ultra_spacestationUSB Flash Drives are very handy when wanting to cart information around. The problem many face is keeping things in order. The SpaceStation is built by a company named Ultra and has 6 USB flash drive slots on the back of it. The SpaceStation is credit card sized and acts as a USB hub where 6 of their drives connect in to it. Each drive can store 2GB of data making a total of 12GB of storage on the SpaceStation being made available.

Huawei USB Pebble brings 3G data and mobile TV to your notebook

by Chris

E510

Whenever I hit the road for any length of time I always think about how great it would be to get a 3G card for my laptop. It’s always such a pain to go looking for an open wireless connection, and it would be so much simpler to be able to connect almost anywhere. While I haven’t made the plunge just yet and signed up for service, this would be a 3G HSDPA modem that might be worth looking into when I do.

Belkin Powerstrip has USB Functionality

by Mark R

Belkin Powerstrip

It seems to me that the more gadgets I acquire, the more USB cords that I am collecting. Is it just me, or are we steering away from charging our mobile devices with traditional electronic outlet plugs to charging exclusively to USB power.

I suppose that is all right if you have your computer on the whole time, or if you travel by laptop, like most businesspeople. However, what if you are in a situation where you have a gadget that powers only by USB charging and there is not a USB port to be found?

Fortunately, Belkin, a company known for PC peripherals, has a solution. You will notice that the power strip in this picture has a few outlets on it, but also has some USB ports on it as well. Now you don’t have to go crazy trying to find a USB port whenever you need to recharge your iPod, cell phone, or other mobile gadget.
