When I first saw this crazy item from the Rare Mono Shop in Japan, my reaction was one of disbelief and puzzlement. It appears as though the world has run out of things to power by the low voltage USB cord, resulting in the provenance of the USB health mask. Worn over a standard filter mask (think surgery), the two mini fans on either side of the mask blow in cool air to the mask-wearer.

You know how work PCs are – leave them alone for a short while and you’re greeted with a screen saver or password entry screen. While the latter situation happens more for security reasons, it can get pretty frustrating after a while having to key in your password oh-so-often. The Mouse Jiggler would be the perfect device for preventing your computer from going to sleep, activating a screen saver, or getting it locked automatically as it randomly moves your mouse cursor around whenever plugged in. There is no need to install any software whatsoever – the Mouse Jiggler is truly a plug and play solution as it registers as a Human Interface Device (HID).
I take a look around my work desk and often let out a long sigh. Surely in between the keys of my keyboard lies thousands of colonies of thriving bacteria and other unmentionable microbes which are invisible to the naked eye, but when put under the scrutiny of the USB Digital Microscope from ThinkGeek, the entire picture changes. Chances are I will probably have to turn in my current keyboard into the incinerator and pick a new one up, preferably a model with an anti-bacterial coating on. Like they say, ignorance is bliss – hence I’ll follow that good advice and save myself a fair amount of money in the process without killing off entire nations of unseen life on purpose.

The humble flash drive has come a long way over the last few years, there was a time when they were a serious piece of kit and had a price tag to suit, and yet now days the flash drive has had a bit of a makeover. It is possible now to buy some flash drives pre loaded with software solutions and in some cases companies are even giving then away with promotional material loaded onto them for people to watch in the privacy of their own homes.

Energizer is a name synonymous with alkaline batteries, and I personally prefer it over the bunny hopping Duracell due to its design and mascot. It is also the No. 1 selling brand when it comes to NiMH products, and has recently announced the introduction of a couple of systems that will make their way nationwide in due time. These new chargers aim to forge a new path when it comes to rechargeable batteries with the Energizer DUO and Energizer Family Charger.
What do you get when you take a ReadyNAS, swap the Ethernet connection for direct USB and give it lots of sweeping curves? You get Drobo! It certainly is very nicely styled… Is it possible to have a “Web 2.0″ looking product? “Storage 2.0″ perhaps?
Anyway Drobo is a new product category – a directly connected USB hard drive array with redundancy. They’re very clear in their marketing that it’s a proprietary technology and not conventional RAID as we know it, but I’ll call it that because it conveys the idea and we all know what it means.
I think “The world’s first storage robot” is pushing it a bit – serious tape libraries have been around for years. Still there’s no doubting that putting hot swap redundant hard drives in a USB enclosure is a pretty neat trick.

You can’t deny that we’re living in a pill popping generation these days, where there is a solution to virtually every ailment (of course, you’ll have to discount diseases like hepatitis, AIDS, cancer, and its ilk). Of course, there are also others who pop pills for the wrong reason, of whom Pac Man is largely responsible. Nah, we’re kidding. Anyhows, to get on with the show, this disturbing trend has now surfaced amongst computer users, but with good reason. The all pervasive USB flash drive is now available in the classic red and white pill design, but of course the only thing this pill does is store your data and not meant for personal consumption.
