Mini Power Minder turns off power for you
November 25th, 2006 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
Most of us think that our computers and home appliances hardly take up any extra energy when they’re in standby mode, but we are sorely mistaken as research shows one could simply save a few hundred dollars each year by turning off the PC when we’re sleeping instead of leaving it on to download miscellaneous programs. Why not get some help from a gadget that is smart enough to know whether your PC has been shut down or not and do the necessary honors on your behalf? This magical device exists in the form of the Mini Power Minder which retails for a mere $14.95 a pop from Amazon.
Mouse with built-in SD card reader
November 23rd, 2006 by Edwin in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
Despite the fact that many computers and notebooks these days come with built-in memory card readers, there are still a whole generation of people who have not yet picked up a new machine, preferring to stick to their ailing computers due to the lack of monetary fortitude. Chances are pretty high that this group are still stuck with a PS/2 port to hook up their mice as the two available USB ports (1.1 at that) are already occupied with a printer and a VoIP phone. How then, will they have the space to view information on an SD/MMC memory card? The answer is simple, by presenting the user with a USB-powered optical mouse that comes with a built-in SD/MMC memory card slot.
Speed up your video encoding
November 22nd, 2006 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Software, USB Gadgets
Many of us already carry around an iPod Video or a Sony PSP, and more often than not we keep ourselves entertained with games, music, and movies on those multimedia-enabled devices. Popping in a game or listening to audio is pretty easy, but video is an issue where transferring your favorite holiday experiences to the small screen could take up way too much time, and the impatient world around us is one that simply cannot wait long enough. Enter the InstantVideo To Go device - this unique peripheral might look like a USB TV dongle with a single glance, but it actually performs a totally different function.

A nice place to plug, (and you probably live there)
November 17th, 2006 by Fred in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets, iPod gadgetsHere’s a great new table by Takafumi Nemoto along the lines of the earlier multipot.![]()
The really cool thing about this concept is that you can plug in all your electronic devices and then have a place where they look nice as well.
The issue is very important and shocking that more work hasn’t been done on this (I’ve got something brewing in this area myself, look for it before too long!)
By utilizing a better looking location for plugging mobiles, pda’s, ipods, and other electronics, our desks return to looking like,, well desks.
