USB Car Charger

September 13th, 2006 by Al in USB Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

USB Car ChargerThis is one of those really obvious gadget ideas, a USB car charger. So provided you haven’t got a flat battery you can simply charge your USB gadgets via your cars cigarette lighter (I knew it had to be useful for something).

This has got me thinking, if all manufacturers agree (yeah I know they never will) we could use the Splash Power to charge our gadgets at home and if all future gadgets had a USB port we could use the car or any PC to charge our stuff when we’re out and about. It will never happen but it’s a nice idea.

Ministry of Gadgets sells the USB Car Charger for the bargain price of £3.95.

Christmas Gadgets are a Coming

September 6th, 2006 by Al in USB Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

USB Xmas TreeIt’s September 6th and I’ve just received my first Christmas press release, now that’s what I call planning ahead.

Our friends over at Brando have just started selling a singing and dancing USB Santa, the video of it actually looks surprisingly cool (for a wacky Christmas gadget). They’ve also released a USB Christmas tree which has various optics and light patterns (no where near as cool as the dancing Santa).
USB Santa
If you fancy getting ahead of the festive game (by 3 months) the USB Dancing Santa Claus costs $17 and the USB Christmas tree costs $16.

Hawking’s Sumpreme Wi-Fi Range Extender

August 30th, 2006 by Mike in USB Gadgets

hawking-dish.jpg
Being someone that has spent far to much money on those new longer range routers, special antennas, and those range extenders, the Hawking Hi-Gain USB Wireless-G Dish Adapter looks pretty appealing.

It looks like a mini satellite dish, and it pretty much is. The adapter is equipped with an 8dBi directional antenna; most routers come with a 2dBi antenna. That translates into a range increase of up to 300%, but I expect the actual numbers are a bit lower.

52 in 1 Card Reader

August 28th, 2006 by Al in USB Gadgets

52 in 1Not only has Brando sent us a ton of gadget prizes they have also just released the interesting 52 in 1 USB Bluetooth Card Reader. I didn’t even realise there were 52 different card formats.

The Card Reader functions as a Bluetooth Dongle (so you won’t even need to plug in your cards half the time) and has a relaxing anamorphic pulsing light so that you can see when it’s in use.

This is probably one of those gadgets that you’ll only use 1o% of it’s possible functionality, full list of compatible memory cards after the jump Read the rest of this entry »

E-Puppy (Pointless But Cool)

August 21st, 2006 by Al in USB Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

ePuppy

It’s another of those wacky gadgets, the E-Puppy Personal USB E-Mail Communicator.

Simply connect to your PC via USB and let the cute little pooch read your emails to you. It also has a built-in microphone so you can talk back to it. So if you’ve ever wanted a talking fog with a light for a belly button here it is the E-Puppy (least it’s not another i thing).

Available from AXT Unlimited found via the CG Forums thanks WebQueen.

3-In-1 Gadget Pen

August 20th, 2006 by Liam in Miscellaneous Gadgets, USB Gadgets

3-In-1 Gadget Pen
These days it seems like every gadget isn’t just what it appears to be. The manufacturers are always thinking up new and unique features for gadgets which are constantly making life easier while compacting as much as they can into one device. This really interesting 3-In-1 pen is a very handy gadget which would be perfect for use around an office or in a meeting.

On the outside it appears to be a very normal pen that one might carry around for taking notes. It also works just like a normal pen and aside from a small but mysterious silver button on the side there is no way for anyone else to know what you’re holding!

Lexar Lightning

August 15th, 2006 by Mike in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Thumb drives are nothing new these days, but the JumpDrive Lighting from Lexar is a little different.lexar-lightning.jpg

The Lighting is your standard thumb drive, maybe a little shinier, but it also includes the PowerToGo Virtual Application platform. Basically, it provides an environment in which you can install just about any Windows application and run it off of your Lightning.

Logitech QuickCam Pro

August 14th, 2006 by Mike in PC Gadgets, Photography, USB Gadgets

Quick CamLogitech products have been written about here before, but never one of their web cams.

The QuickCam Pro is a webcam deigned specifically for laptops, meaning it’s small and can latch on to the top of your laptop. To put it in perspective, the QuickCam Pro is the size of an average house key. For carrying your QuickCam Pro around, just use the included carrying case.
