USB Scotch Tape Dispenser

February 20th, 2007 by Al in USB Gadgets

USB Sellotape

When I first saw this I thought cool, I’ve got a battery operated tape dispenser which seems to convert new batteries into useless non eco friendly waste in a matter of seconds, so a USB solution could be just the job.

However my excitement (excitement is probably a slight exaggeration) was short lived as it’s not USB powered it’s yet another USB hub (and no where near as cool as the TARDIS), so you have to manually tear the tape off, though you could plug a humping dog into it :)

The tape dispensing hub is available from Earth Trek, found first on Crib Candy.

USB flash drive as means of advertising

February 19th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gadget Gift Ideas, USB Gadgets

speaker-usb-drive.jpg

What are some of the ways your company will be able to assert itself in the minds of prospects and potential customers? Other than splurging a whole bunch of money on conventional advertising means in traditional media like TV, radio, and newspapers, there are other (much) cheaper ways of doing so by targeting your preferred market in order to optimize your advertising dollar. With the digital divide being bridged slowly but surely, more and more people cannot live without touching a computer even for a day. What better way to get your company’s message across by giving away a free USB flash drive? After all, everyone could definitely do with more portable memory, and a USB flash drive is the perfect tool for the job at the moment. eNECESSITIES has launched a USB Sound Flash Drive to cater for this exact need. Check out what this unique memory device has to offer below.

Keep your computer crash free (sort of)

February 18th, 2007 by Mike in Software, USB Gadgets

Kick-off USB Dongle

Computers don’t really crash that often anymore, and you can go on and on about how often Windows crashes and how little OS X crashes, but in the end, it’s really not that big of a deal. . . unless you do something uber important that requires 100% uptime. For those people who worry about crashes when they’re not around to fix them, Kick-Off is the hardware software solution you need.

Humping USB Dog

February 16th, 2007 by Al in USB Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Humping DogI think this has got to be the zaniest USB device I’ve come across, it’s times like this that words fail me.

The USB humping dog is available here which funnily enough is in Japan (I’m shocked).

2, 3, 4 USB ports Ah Ha Ha!!!!

February 15th, 2007 by Fred in Miscellaneous Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Elecom has 3 new USB hubs available.elecom usb ports

This batch is particularly great for a simple reason,, they’re simple.

This is a direct, well thought out, USB port setup. It looks especially useful because it provides what you need, and nothing you don’t.

They seem best suited for use with a laptop. Maybe these would be well served with a high intensity red L.E.D. that wouldn’t suck too much power and would provide added utility to the ports themselves.

Thanks NOTCOT

Seagate FreeAgent line

February 14th, 2007 by Dan in USB Gadgets

seagate_usb.jpgSeagate announced at the latest CES a family of storage devices that is supposed to redefine the rules on the segment. The FreeAgent Data Movers line, as it is called, will let users take the whole content of their desktops or laptops (not only music or photos but also applications and programs) and carry it with them, making it much more accessible and reliable.

The storage devices, in fact, integrate not only hardware but also a software stack to manage the file transfers, encrypt and protect the content. There are 4 solutions on the line: FreeAgent Pro which is a USB/eSATA storage device and contains up to 750 Gigabytes, FreeAgent Desktop Drive which stores up to 500 Gigabytes, FreeAgent Go which can pack 160 Gigabytes and FreeAgent GoSmall which features 12 Gigabytes of memory. The Titan is one tough nut

February 12th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, USB Gadgets

tyukalov-usb.jpg

USB flash drives are extremely useful, and nearly everyone sports at least one these days. Unfortunately, most of us also have had the experience of accidentally spoiling our USB flash drives due to the nature of the inferior plastic which it comes in. Treat them casually and they probably won’t be able to last the distance, which is why Russian Slava Tyukalov has taken some time and trouble to create his very own USB flash drives which are way more durable than what you find on the market. These drives are certified waterproof, anti-shock, anti-vibration, and anti-static to ensure your data integrity remains no matter where you bring the USB flash drive.
