ATI shares new TV tuners with the world

by Edwin

ati-tv-wonders.jpgATI has released a bunch of new TV tuners for those who have been thinking about including a computer in their living room as part of the entire home entertainment package, instead of the usual LCD TV, HD DVD/Blu-ray player, and high end audio center taking all the attention. The products in question are the ATI TV Wonder 650 Combo USB, TV wonder 600 PCI Express and the TV Wonder 600 PCI. All of these tuners will be able to bring HDTV goodness to the computer, so make sure your rig runs silently enough not to interfere with dialog in a movie due to the noisy hum of its cooling solution.

Feng Shui USB flash drive

by Edwin

crystal-usb.jpgCrystals play a pivotal role in the world of Feng Shui, and what better way to channel some good vibes to your workdesk than with this crystal-enhanced USB flash drive? I wonder whether it helps prevent virus attacks and corrupted data on your computer while using this. Still, it is a rather interesting USB flash drive to own, except that you can’t wear this around your neck or place it in your pocket as you will probably end up hurting yourself with the sharp edges accidentally. The 1GB crystal USB flash drive retails for $30 from Etsy.

Gresso ups the style for USB flash drives

by Edwin

gresso-usb.jpgGresso is a name famous for manufacturing luxury cellphones as well as MP3 players, and this time they have taken their expertise by sprucing up the plain old USB flash drive. Gresso took a biblical stance with their new creation, naming it Adam&Eve – and no, it does not come wrapped in a fig leaf but is crafted from high end materials such as African mahogany, blackwood, gold and white diamonds. Unfortunately, the memory capacity maxes out at 1GB, which IMHO, isn’t really appropriate in today’s day and age.

You can buy the software and USB wine bottle from BeWine Connected.

USB Sheet Music Turner Pedal

by Edwin

usb-sheet-turner.jpg

Ask anyone who plays an instrument and knows how to read sheet music and they’ll voice out their grouses when it comes to turning pages in the score while trying to keep the musical flow going smooth. The USB Sheet Music Turner Pedal could relegate that to the past, using your feet to turn these “pages” electronically on your computer even when both hands are occupied. Unfortunately, this device has a pretty high entry price at $59 for the page turner while $99 will net you the page turner and a laptop stand. Would you pick this up as a musician, or do you prefer to passionately fling away pages of sheet music once you’re done with them?

The Cat Mouse from Japan

by Edwin

mouse-cat.jpgA Cat Mouse sounds like an oxymoron, but only in Japan can you find such an interesting computer peripheral. Actbrise has released a cat that is actually a computer mouse, and it has a design that leans more towards the joystick than everyone’s favorite pointing peripheral. Tilt the cat left and the pointer will move accordingly. A quartet of buttons on the back cater for normal clicks and scrolling purposes. It relies on a wired USB connection to work and retails for $70 each. Why so expensive, you ask? For starters, it is handmade by skilled craftsmen, and anything crafted out of hand normally carries a premium price tag.

Corsair Readout USB 2.0 Flash Drive

by Edwin

corsair-memory-drive.jpg

For those who have always wondered about the amount of space they have left in their USB flash drives, they’ll have to plug it in a computer to check the results. The Corsair Readout USB 2.0 Flash Drive is different since it already comes with a built-in display that shows the capacity used, available space, and even a personal ID. This Bi-stable Cholesteric Display (BCD) can retain and display this information for up to one year without the need for a battery, although what happens after one year, I’m not too sure. You can even enter a personalized 11-character alphanumeric label to help you identify the contents better. Each purchase of the 4GB Corsair Readout USB 2.0 Flash Drive will set you back by $76.
