The Titan is one tough nut

February 12th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, USB Gadgets

USB flash drives are extremely useful, and nearly everyone sports at least one these days. Unfortunately, most of us also have had the experience of accidentally spoiling our USB flash drives due to the nature of the inferior plastic which it comes in. Treat them casually and they probably won’t be able to last the distance, which is why Russian Slava Tyukalov has taken some time and trouble to create his very own USB flash drives which are way more durable than what you find on the market. These drives are certified waterproof, anti-shock, anti-vibration, and anti-static to ensure your data integrity remains no matter where you bring the USB flash drive.

February 12th, 2007 by Nick in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Greta
If you’re used to getting work done on hotel rooms and on the road, I’m sure you’ll find the new “Greta” printer with integrated GSM extremely useful. Sometimes sending or receiving a fax can determine the success or failure of your project, but if you’re using a Greta printer, you’ll never need to worry about that again. With Greta you can print, scan, fax and copy documents and send all your work via tri-band GSM, turning any place you are into your mobile office.

Panda Cam

February 9th, 2007 by Al in USB Gadgets

Panda Web Cam
If you think web cams just aren’t cute enough then this is the answer, the decidedly tacky Panda Cam.

On the outside he may look like a cute innocent panda, but this black and white bear houses a small web cam in his belly, useful!

It’s as cheap as it looks, costing $24.

Wiimote USB Charger

February 6th, 2007 by Mike in Gaming Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Thanko Wiimote USB Charger
I’ve played the Wii a few times before and it’s a great console. I love the fact that you get Wii Sports with your purchase; it’s a great game to play with family and friends, even those who don’t like video games. Despite it’s mediocre graphics, the Wii will give you hours of fun no matter what. Now, I’ve said a lot of good things so far, but I do have one gripe, which is the use of regular old AA batteries in the Wiimote (the remote control). Rechargeable batteries aren’t a new technology these days, and it’s just silly to have to constantly be buying extra AAs to use in your Wiimotes. It was only a matter of time before a 3rd party came out with a Wiimote charger, and it looks like that time has come with Thanko’s Wiimote USB charger.

Geeky widgets

February 1st, 2007 by Mike in USB Gadgets

Pertelian External LCD Display
The Optimus Mini 3 may provide you with little widgets on your desk in a pretty form factor, but if you’re a real geek, you laugh at that kind of stuff. You don’t need it to be pretty. Or have a color screen. You don’t even need something that looks remotely attractive. No, you need the Pertelian External LCD display. Just look at the picture, that will go well (not that you care) with your desk.

USB Shaver

February 1st, 2007 by Al in USB Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

USB ShaverI thought this was a joke when I first read about it but alas no,you can now get a Rechargeable USB Shaver.

It only costs $22 so some how I don’t think it’s going to be the best shave you’ve ever had, but imagine the sad geeky respect you’ll get the next time a work colleague asks you “What’s that you got plugged in?”.

As with many other crazy USB devices the USB Shaver is available from Brando.

USB Battery Charger

February 1st, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, USB Gadgets

apex-usb-charger.jpgSomehow or rather, I find that there is one similarity between the Sith and geeks – both of them can identify with the battle cry, “Power! More power!” while laughing their heads off. Ask any geek and he/she’ll tell you that there is nothing more depressing than having a gizmo run out of juice just when you need it the most. Unfortunately for us, most people still use non-renewable energy sources such as AA batteries that are thrown away once they are drained. I never really understood why these people don’t want to bother with rechargeable ones – perhaps the initial entry cost sounds more expensive than replacements in the short term. ThinkGeek has recently released the USB Battery Charger that is capable of charging up to four AA and AAA batteries simultaneously. It takes approximately four hours to fully juice them up, and best of all is, you only take up a single USB port in the process.
