How to read more RSS feeds than you can imagine!
This comes via a collection of some of my favorite online humans (and one I know).
First, I am a frequenter on David Seah’s blog. If you’re a graphic designer, go there. If you have to manage your time for any reason, go there. If you like great food, go there. Eh, it’s David go, he’s great. David wrote a review of Timothy Ferris’s book Four Hour Work Week, which I’m finishing later tonight. It is absoloutely amazing. So just go get it. You know,, if you like lifechanging ideas and stuff like that.
So while following Timothy Ferris’s travels (and there are a LOT) he went and talked to the Scobleizer! ( Robert Scoble Writer/Prolific blogger/ techno-maestro /Mr. Plugged in).
Where’s the RSS reading tricks? (well just wait a sec, here they are!) Timothy Ferris and Robert Scoble got together and made a quick video of how Robert manages to put such massive amounts of information into his brain on a daily basis. (pssst,, keep reading for more!) Oh Google where art thou? (some things for you to do)
Well you may vaguely remember I have gone on mild tirade/suggestion lists.
One of the kind humans over at Lifehack.org, (and obvious Googleophyte (not that there’s anything wrong with it)) recently had a great piece in the same vein. Sadly they don’t have their name on the article so that I can thank them correctly. This is the article in question.
Their focus is on Gmail (duh), Google Reader, Google Docs and Spreadsheets, and Google Calender. It is a nice simple piece that outlines some simple and direct opportunities for Google to improve its services, and/or for other companies to pay attention and provide the services that people are asking for. If they don’t, well there are a million people out there looking to pick up the slack in any one of those niches. Our friends over at Planypus for example. Great product, simple, well executed, and just looking for larger adoption rates. Those guys have responded to feedback and constantly improved their solution.

Dell go Ubuntu. Cheap, fast, stable computing for the masses.

Some of Dell’s more reasonably-priced computers are about to become even cheaper. PC beginners will enjoy an easier entry in the computing world and will be treated much friendlier. Why that? Well, due to popular request, Dell have decided to offer a free software suite and a very friendly distribution of Linux for some of their desktop PCs and laptops. They have finally chosen Ubuntu, as it’s one of the friendliest distributions.

Ulead’s the way in AVCHD editing capability

With Sony’s annoying reliance on proprietary software solutions, many camcorder users have complained that such formats like AVCHD are almost impossible to edit with their existing software. This has prompted a race to create plugins to handle the Sony format and it seems that Ulead has broken the tape with Ulead VideoStudio 11. Other features of VideoStudio include Vista support, HD DVD authoring and Dolby® Digital 5.1 surround sound.
New users can rely on VideoStudio’s Movie Wizard which helps to select from various themes and can also “auto-edit” a professional looking opening sequence. In addition, it can also perform the famous Ken Burns effect of Panning & Zooming on still photos for photo montages and slide shows.

Toshiba Tablet PC review (and what’s good to load on a new machine)
So as mentioned, I’ ordered and received my Toshiba Tablet PC,
well it’s here! I want to be careful of what I load so it stays light, mean and useful.
Its loaded with a CD-R/DVD, loads of RAM and power, built in thumb print scanner and SD card reader. Best of all, a wonderful stylus that allows me to draw on the screen. It just rocks.
The thumb print scanner seemed useless, until I realized that my ridiculously long password is a thing of the past, I just need to swipe my finger,, I’m starting to like that convenience.
As for the stylus control, it could be a tad tighter, but it’s still miles better than even the best Wacom pad (trust me, I’ve been using them for years!)
The SD card reader being built in is just great, it’s already saved me from having to go home with loaded cards, I just blast em in there and keep taking pictures!
Here is the software I’ve loaded so far (you have to keep reading). Continue reading » Toshiba Tablet PC review (and what’s good to load on a new machine)
Modest Mouse Music Video Contest
Want to make it big as a music video director/editor? The band Modest Mouse wants help making a video for their new song “Missed the Boat.” With the help of Apple, Modest Mouse posted 12 high quality videos (each shot at a different angle) of them performing in front of a green screen.
The public is encouraged to download these video clips and edit them together into one final music video. Feel free to use your own footage and experiment the green screen.
Why is Apple generously providing massive amounts of bandwidth for people to download these giant high resolution video clips?
Remove Red Eye In Adobe Photoshop
Red eye. What a pain in the ass. I have so many great photos in my iPhoto Library which have been ruined because of red eye. Sometimes I use the red eye tools iPhoto or Adobe Photoshop to fix problematic images, but unfortunately they don’t always do a good job.
Luckily red eye is very easy to fix manually in Adobe Photoshop (US, UK). You just need to know how. Here’s a tutorial on how to remove red eye using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 or higher.
