Get paid to date

Hawking Technologies has recently announced that it will begin to ship the first Wireless-300N WiFi Networking Adapter which sees an integration of second generation Dual Antenna Dish Technology for extreme WiFi performance. Shaped after a miniature satellite dish, the wireless adapter features a Hi-Gain dual-antenna feed design which is capable of boosting WiFi distances by up to 600% in comparison to standard embedded applications. I guess the folks at Hawking Technologies got it spot on when they remarked, “The problem with wireless networks these days is not the speed, it’s the distance. Regardless of how fast your network is, if you can’t reach the wireless signal, it simply won’t work. We understand this at Hawking and are very excited to announce the release of the HWDN1 Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Dish Adapter. Our second generation Dual Antenna Dish Technology builds from our very successful Wireless-G Dish antenna design and boosts the performance in both speed and range. The result is the most powerful 802.11n USB network adapter on the market.”
Pacemaker Portable DJ System
April 24th, 2008 by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets, PC Gadgets
For those of you who want to DJ, but cannot afford two turntables and a microphone, there is a digital handheld alternative: the Pacemaker.
I’m not talking about some internal electric monitor, but the Pacemaker Portable DJ System, which allows for “an extensive range of professional audio manipulation [which] features…limitless mixing between two independent channels”. In short, you can mix, play, and perform anywhere you want, and your mixed tunes will be saved to the 120 hard drive.
The Pacemaker is compatible with all types of digital music formats, and also features “dynamic beat detection, cue, crossfade and reverse, pitch change as well as bend, loop, effects, and EQ”. I’m not a DJ, so I don’t really know what all that really means. I’m sure that all the DJs out there probably think all those aforementioned features are “dope”, but that just shows what I know about DJ-ing.
The Pacemaker ships with a choice of a Mac or PC audio editor, and includes a USB port for computer interface. One of the most prominent features is Pacemaker’s online mix community that could be an audio MySpace/Facebook.
So if you want to be a DJ, and you’re looking for a place to start, you might want to purchase the Pacemaker for about €520.00.
Is that a Keyboard on your pants, or…
April 24th, 2008 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, PC Gadgets
Yes, I did start this article with a completely tasteless joke. But look at that photo to your left, and you will see that it is completely impossible not to.
These “Beauty and the Geek” keyboard trousers are a concept interface from designer Erik De Nijs. As you can see, it is made for those who like to compute by putting their laptop so far down on their lap that it is practically at their feet. Maybe it’s also designed to remove that uncomfortable feeling you get when your laptop has been on your lap for too long.
I’m not certain if this syncs to your laptop wirelessly, or if there is some USB wire that you can’t see here. I do know that these pants have speakers built into the knees, and a pocket in the back for storing the mouse. I have even heard that there is a joystick controller behind the zipper, but now we’re back to making tasteless jokes again.
Kensington Ci70 keyboard has USB 2.0 ports
April 24th, 2008 by Edwin in USB Gadgets, PC Gadgets
Just like hard drive space, you can’t have too many USB ports as well. Kensington agrees with this adage with their new Ci70 keyboard that features a couple of USB 2.0 ports, expanding your computer’s connectivity even more. I guess some monitors and now even keyboards come with USB 2.0 ports - what will you wager on the next peripheral to include additional ports? Printers, scanners, or even mice? I think the former two are feasible but definitely not a mouse, since you’ll be moving it all over the place most of the time anyway. A trackball would fare much better in this aspect. The Kensington Ci70 keyboard boasts a 35% smaller footprint and low-profile design, featuring five hot keys for quick access to mail, media, and search, while media keys offer volume control, track control, play and pause. It will retail for $49.99 and is now available for pre-order from Amazon.
Jt Baby USB flash drive
April 24th, 2008 by Edwin in USB Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets
Most people would have built up a pretty respectable collection of USB flash drives by now, and the Jt Baby USB flash drive would make a fine addition to any collection. This stylish mass storage device can function as a cell phone charm, making it a snap to tote around your data wherever you go. It doubles up as a boot device as long as your motherboard supports USB-ZIP or USB-HDD as the first boot device through the BIOS. The 2GB version will come in black, green or purple colors, while the 4GB model is slightly more cheery with blue, orange and red colors. You can pick up the 2GB and 4GB Jt Baby USB flash drive for $22 and $37, respectively.
Buffalo LinkStation Mini
April 23rd, 2008 by Edwin in PC Gadgets
Buffalo Technology recently rolled out its LinkStation Mini - the smallest and quietest Network Attached Storage(NAS) device from Buffalo’s stable so far. Don’t let its size fool you though, as it is more than capable of storing up to 1TB of data inside courtesy of a couple of 500GB 2.5″ hard drives within. It performs admirably through a Gigabit Ethernet connection, and measuring a mere 40mm x 82mm x 135mm, it will a snap carrying it around wherever you go. Your shoulders also won’t feel like breaking as it weighs just 500 grams. Using passive cooling methods, there is no need for a fan and hence, it operates at a much quieter pace compared to other portable NAS devices.

Averatec gets rugged
April 23rd, 2008 by Edwin in PC Gadgets
Averatec has introduced a couple of semi-ruggedized notebooks in the market for those who tend to knock their notebooks around unwittingly whenever they travel. The new Voya series of notebooks consists of two models - the Voya 4473 being a 14.1″ standard notebook while the larger Voya 6494 boasts a 15.4″ widescreen display. With both of them featuring robust drop and vibration resistance, you can rest easy even if you suffer from a particularly bad case of butter fingers that very day. Heck, its spill resistant keyboard and keypad makes it all the more appealing since you no longer need to pick your heart up from the floor when the resident clumsy colleague at the office drops by your cubicle for a chat with a mug of coffee in hand.
