Christmas is still a long, long way off - but that doesn’t mean you can’t be prepared to meet the oncoming holiday season, right? Brando has the USB Key-pressed X’mas Tree that is pretty self-explanatory - the faster you type, the more bulbs on this thing lights up. Sorry, there are no Easter eggs available in this USB gadget, so breaking the world’s speed typing record won’t result in a special lighting arrangement or anything of that sort. Each USB Key-pressed X’mas Tree comes with 25 LEDs and will retail for $19. I guess bosses who get this for their employees might secretly want to check on whether they’re typing their reports like good peons do, or are they busy surfing using Google’s incognito window.

September 16th, 2008 by Edwin in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
Western Digital has decided to make available larger capacities for the My Passport line of portable USB drives, hitting the 500GB mark for folks who have plenty of data to tote about without being weighed down by size and weight. Available on My Passport Elite and My Passport Essential portable drive models, both of them will tip the scales at under 7 ounces and were specially designed to hold out on their own against the rigors of everyday use. Judging by their weight alone, you can tell that they’re small enough to slip into your pocket or backpack comfortably, and since it is bus-powered, you don’t have to worry about toting an additional power supply although you might have to rethink how you’re going to reorganize the use of your USB ports on the computer.
The Seamour Sheep Radioactive USB Lamp
September 14th, 2008 by Ally in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
USB gadgets are always taking gadgets to a whole new level of bizarre, well this little sheep is no exception. The USB Seamour Sheep lamp is created after the Seamour Sheep online comic series. Although if you do pick one up, all anyone is likely going to notice is that you actually paid money to have a green glowing radioactive sheep. Which puts you on a whole different level of geekdom.
The eco-friendly Lili Webcam

This cute little Lili Webcam not only has the appeal of looking adorable, but it was created in the best of ways. The webcam has managed to be created in such a way that it is actually eco-friendly. It is also thankfully a Fair Trade product. Which means the workers were in a safe and hygienic workplace while creating the cuddly little webcam. It also means that there was no child labor going on and the workers received a fair wage. Basically, Fair Trade means the little guy doing all the work didn’t get shafted.
Finger Drum Mousepad
September 14th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
Mousepads that make music aren’t exactly new, but if you have a great sense of rhythm and want to put those drumming fingers to good use during your more idle moments at the office, the Finger Drum Mousepad is right up your alley.
This mousepad has an integrated electronic drumpad that allows you to play eight different percussion sounds, including bass, snare, two rack toms, a floor tom, hi-hat, crash, and ride cymbals using only your fingers. The MP3 player input enables you to play drum solos over any song from your digital music library. A demonstration mode accompanies six preset patterns, and you can record up to 30 of your own rhythms. Separate volume and tempo controls adjust sound levels, and the headphone jack ensures discreet finger drum practice. Includes four AAA batteries.
Each purchase will cost you $39.95, and who knows? You might just come up with that next great solo that could see you exchange the dreary office life for that of a rock star’s.
Sony announces more Vaios
September 13th, 2008 by Edwin in PC Gadgets
Sony is big on their new Vaio range, and this time round we have the NS and CS models to keep our wallets light but egos satisfied. Both models from Sony will offer portable multimedia solutions without breaking the bank, as prices start from $1,000 upwards (for the NS model) which enable customers to enjoy high definition entertainment on their computers. The Vaio NS will come with an optional Blu-ray disc optical drive if you’re up to it, but I would suggest watching Blu-ray movies over a large screen HDTV insted of on the monitor since the screen size would not do the movie justice. More on both the NS and CS models right after the jump.
Western Digital Scorpio Blue notebook
September 13th, 2008 by Edwin in PC Gadgets
Western Digital has begun to roll out volume shipments as well as OEM qualifications for its very own Scorpio Blue 2.5″ notebook hard drive that comes in various capacities, topping out at 500GB. This is made possible thanks to industry-leading 250 GB-per-platter technology, and if you think that 500GB is just way too much for you to stomach, there is always the 400GB SATA hard drive model. I foresee that many notebooks in the near future will feature the Scorpio Blue, along with a whole host of other portable storage devices.
Pinnacle PCTV HD mini Stick
September 12th, 2008 by Mark R in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
Some of you have those NTSC TV tuners, and some of you have realized that these NTSC TV tuners will be null and void when that big digital TV broadcasting changeover occurs come February of next year.
Pinnacle has recently come out with a PCTV HD mini Stick that is prepared for the high-definition television revolution. This is the company’s second foray into the HD Stick, and this version is quite a bit smaller than its predecessor. Part of the reason for its reduction in size is a simple reduction in components.
The PCTV HD mini stick can receive unencrypted digital cable TV, as well as SDTV and HDTV signals for a maximum resolution of 1080i. To make up for signal weakness, the Pinnacle PCTV HD mini Stick comes with a high-gain telescopic antenna that functions as a signal booster.
