The new PC wristwatch from Eurotech

March 16th, 2006 by Paz in PC Gadgets

PC wristwatch
This one’s definitely on my wish list. It’s a fully functional PC running under a choice of Linux or Windows CE.

OK, weighing in at 7 ounces (200g), you’d need a forearm like Arnold Schwarzenegger to pass it off as a watch. On me it would look like I was taking part in some government programme for tagging offenders; but I wouldn’t mind the stares.

The Electronic Notepad

March 16th, 2006 by Al in PC Gadgets

CyberPad
I class myself as a technical sort of person (though some may argue with that) yet whenever I’m designing software or websites I always resort to pen and paper. This does mean I have A3 pads and flip charts all over the place and finding my original designs can be a real pain. Today I came across the Adesso CyberPad which seems to offer both the benefit of paper and digital storage at the same time.

Software Bug Zapper

March 14th, 2006 by Al in PC Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Bug Zapper
If there was a league table of truly pointless gadgets this would be somewhere near the top, probably just below the ice oven. As we know most software has the odd bug (even Microsoft testers aren’t perfect :)) well now you can pretend to fix them with the computer Bug Zapper.

The computer bug zapper, hangs from a hook and looks a bit like a normal bug (as in flying) extermination system, with it’s glowing yellow core of insect death. However the yellow light is just for show though it does make ZZZzzap sounds whenever a software bug is detected and destroyed.

I so nearly believed that this was the long awaited silver bullet of software development until I found that it runs on batteries and not USB! How low tech is that! I might try to get one of these on expenses from Think Geek, it’s probably more successful than 99% of the promised silver bullet books I’ve read :D.

A Secret Drawer for your Laptop

March 12th, 2006 by Al in PC Gadgets, Spy Stuff

STash Card
This is an interesting idea, your own little secret drawer inside your laptop. The Stash Card slots into any unused PC card slot and can be used for storing secret stuff like cash, memory cards, little black books etc.

Must admit hiding valuable items inside a laptop may not be the smartest of ideas as I’m sure luxury laptops come fairly high on the list of desirables to nick, but it’s a cool idea none the less. You get more info (not a lot mind you) and buy online at Stash Card.

Ultimate Wi-Fi Gadget (it’s a Rabbit)

March 12th, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

WiFi Rabbit
This has got to be the ultimate wifi gadget that I have ever seen, the Nabaztag Wi-Fi rabbit. You may be wondering why exactly does a rabbit need WiFi, well to communicate with the rest of the world of course.

Ergonomic Tilting Mouse

March 12th, 2006 by Al in PC Gadgets

Tilting Mouse
I’ve just received a press release about a new sort of mouse that you just have to tilt to control rather than moving it around the desk. It’s an interesting concept and could be especially useful for laptops where you don’t always have the physical space to use a conventional mouse. Press release follows:

Samsung shows laptop with 32GB of flash memory

March 11th, 2006 by Tiago in Miscellaneous Gadgets, PC Gadgets

Samsung laptop with flash-based-memory

CeBIT is all for innovations and the likes of it, that’s why Samsung is presenting their first laptop with flash memory instead of the usual hard disks. Last year they had a prototype with 16GB of memory only, which it isn’t a lot but for that time it was already good.

Now they have doubled the prototype capacity and are showing a flash-based-disk with 32GB of memory capacity, at the same size of a 1.8inch hard-disk.

First Microsoft Ultra-PC Disappoints

March 10th, 2006 by Paz in Audio/Video Gadgets, PC Gadgets

Samsung Ultra-PC device.

After all the hype before the official launch of the new Microsoft Origami hand-held, the debut of the gadget itself has been something of an anti-climax.

Having compared the functionality of the device with what’s been promised over the previous months; we have to say we’re distinctly unimpressed.
