CardScan Executive 800c reads business card with aplomb

Coolest Gadgets

cardscan-800c.jpgIt is interesting to note that in this day of age and time, people still trade business cards the first time they meet up instead of beaming it over via IrDA or Bluetooth. Looks like old-school paper is not quite obsolete just yet despite the paperless onslaught by various advancements such as wireless technology, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet. The CardScan Executive 800c is one device that all businessmen (and women) should not do without on their travels.

voip-street-mouse.jpgSo you have recently discovered the wonders of VoIP and have managed to track down your long lost relatives who are currently residing across 6 continents to hold a Skype conference on a weekly basis, catching up on old times. The eternal question then pops up - which is the best gadget to purchase for your VoIP needs that will not add unnecessary clutter to your desktop while offering great voice quality in a nice looking package? Gizoo claims to have the answer with the Street Mouse VoIP handset. It looks very much like the well-loved Beetle and retails for an affordable £21.95.

Macworld Blooper Reel

October 25th, 2006 by methodshop in Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Software, Tech News
Coolest Gadgets

Ever talk yourself into a corner or been bogged down with technical problems during a presentation? Just remember that these problems can happen to anyone… even Steve Jobs.

Here’s a blooper reel of Steve Jobs and his gang over at Apple messing up on their very important Macworld keynotes. My favorite part is when Jobs tosses a camera to someone in the audience after it didn’t work for him on stage. Enjoy.

Kanguru 32GB flash drive is the pits

October 24th, 2006 by Edwin in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
Coolest Gadgets

kanguru-32gb.jpgThose who are suffering from a bad case of penis envy would do well to check out the Kanguru USB thumb drive which pooh-poohs at other flash drives which hold a mere 1GB to 8GB of data. Those who are looking for a tiny USB flash drive which has plenty of storage real estate would do well to check out the Kanguru as it comes with a whooping 32GB of space, dwarfing all other available alternatives in the market. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems and does not require the installation of device drivers, making it a truly versatile device for those who work with large files.

Monitor your plants with PlantSense

October 23rd, 2006 by Mike in Garden Gadgets, USB Gadgets

PlantSense
It’s a fact of life: some people just aren’t good with plants. No matter what they do, and even if they have the automatic plant watering system, their plants always end up dead within a matter of weeks. If you think all you need is a little help when it comes to gardening, PlantSense is here to help you out.

The PlantSense steak looks like a regular garden steak, and it pretty much is, except for the sensors and USB port that is.

Free Memory Stick From Keane

October 23rd, 2006 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Keane Memory Stick

Rock band Keane are including a free memory stick with their latest single. I’m not a particular fan of Keane’s music but it is a cool idea.

Jon Turner the general manager of Keane’s record label Island explained the band were trying out the stick with a hope to develop it into a credible alternative to the CD by 2007.

“I do see it as a potential format for the future,” he told The Guardian, “but I don’t think it’s going to run down the use of digital services. It’s an interesting experiment. I’m keen to see what people make of it.”

Original story on NME found via our forums, thanks Keith.

PC Case made from Lego bricks

October 23rd, 2006 by Edwin in DIY Gadgets, PC Gadgets
Coolest Gadgets

lego-pc-case.jpgHow many of you actually have PC cases made out of anything other than the normal metal or aluminum bits and pieces? Probably only a very, very small percentage do, as the amount of time, effort, and money required to construct a custom case is monumental to say the least. One must have the passion in order to cook up an interesting-looking, fully functional PC case from everyday objects that lie around the house. The Ari Levine PC case is mostly made from Lego bricks that children use to expand their imagination, and the creator has done a pretty banged up job with all the parts meticulously pieced together to form a pleasing sight to the eye of any passers-by.

Super Sleek MUS2 Mouse

October 22nd, 2006 by Al in PC Gadgets

MUS2 MouseI’m not sure how ergonomic the MUS2 Mouse is but it certainly looks a bit different to the usual multi button keyboard companion.

The mouse is shaped like a typical screen cursor, so to keep things simple you move the cursor on the desk to move the cursor on the screen, the mouse even morphs into an hour glass when windows crashes* (* - that may of been a slight exaggeration).

Looks cool to me and for £50 it should. You can get the MUS2 mouse from Boys Stuff (also compatible with girly hands).
