The USB Cooler Mouse straight from Thanko

July 18th, 2008 by Ally in Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Remember all those bizarre Thanko products that were exclusive to Japan?  Well, turns out Thanko is opening up a shop for those of us in the US.  Which is partially great news, because then I won’t have to mess with translating the page just to see the speccs of all their strange products.  It won’t open till August, so as of now we still have to translate things over to English.  Which includes this USB Cooler Mouse.

USB Watch tells time, looks geek chic

July 17th, 2008 by AndrewD in USB Gadgets

Let’s examine two trends of geeky gadget hunting. Trend #1, gadgets that are made using recycled computer parts. Check. Trend #2, hooking everything and anything to a USB port. Check, check! Oh, and maybe there is a third trend. Trend #3, watches. They’re always chic for the gadgetry guru.

The Timeless Watch designed by Design-Brothers is a hybrid of all of these trends into one ridiculously awesome timepiece. The Timeless Watch stores power from your USB port in its rechargeable battery. But the real kicker is that the watch clasp is actually a USB port with a specially made latch.

July 17th, 2008 by Edwin in Gaming Gadgets, PC Gadgets

Visionman Computers have announced its latest gaming notebook known as the Widow Predator.

The new Widow Predator laptop uses the latest Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 processor, combined with two on-board nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX video cards to deliver a blistering benchmark score of almost 20K! Breathtaking color, clarity and a game winning 3D benchmark score, add special features such as built-in dual gaming buttons and a Blu-ray/DVD/CD-ROM combo and you will soon be at the top of your game!

What you see on the right is not the Widow Predator gaming notebook, but it is one of them gaming machines from Visionman Computers which I have included for context. No idea on how much it will cost though as the Widow Predator was not yet featured on the company’s website.

Dancing Fingers Makes Touchscreen a Whole Lot Easier

July 16th, 2008 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, PC Gadgets

Just to let you know, this Dancing Fingers product has nothing to do with a fun finger Dance Dance Revolution game that was reported on two years ago.

The Dancing Fingers is designed for those people who have fat fingers. This has nothing to do with a person’s weight, but just the uneven distribution of fat cells on the digits. Some of those operations on the iPhone, like the QWERTY keyboard, are quite small and it is difficult for someone with enlarged fingertips to make precise touches.

These Dancing Fingers are designed to fit snugly on the index and middle fingers, so now “fat-fingered” people can have some full touchscreen capability. No more of hitting the wrong letter anymore.

Gigabyte M528 is really tiny

July 16th, 2008 by Edwin in PC Gadgets

Just in case you thought that the Asus Eee PC was one impressive tiny wonder, along comes Gigabyte and their diminutive M528 netbook. Measuring just 152mm x 80mm x 23mm, this small device manages to pack in full PC functionality in such a small form factor. It will be powered by the impressive Intel Atom 800MHz processor and aided by 512MB RAM, and despite the fact that it runs on Linux, it is also able to drop that and get Windows XP up and running without any problems. Power consumption works out to approximately 2.8W on average, which is always a good thing.

A USB Owl with healing powers

July 16th, 2008 by Ally in Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Once a person has gone to all of the usual avenues to fix whatever their ailment, eventually they usually resort to other less conventional forms.  Apparently one company has decided to try to sucker those that are looking for an alternative out of their money.  They are selling an owl with mysterious healing powers.  Did I mention it’s USB powered?  If you were wondering if maybe historically or perhaps within a particular culture owls were believed to have healing powers, as far as I can find that’s not the case.  Most see owls as a symbol of deception, insight and some believe them to be shape shifters.
