Tatung VOIP phone

August 26th, 2008 by Edwin in Conceptual Gadgets, Mobile Phones, PC Gadgets

How many of you use VOIP on a regular basis? I know there are many VOIP handsets available in the market, but how many of them are lookers like the Tatung VOIP?

The Tatung VOIP, winner of the 2008 IF, IDEA, and Red Dot awards is one classy phone with aims to making internet phones user friendly. Featuring Bluetooth, wireless and a touch pad design, the Tatung VOIP Phone is easy to connect to your VOIP service. Its casing can be customized but other than that the phone is devoid of unnecessary features with the exception of a faux antenna which is just for retro nostalgia.

Makes me wonder why such a classy design (that is not impractical to boot) cannot be turned into reality. Hello, are there any hardware manufacturers reading this?

The Teddy Bear USB Drive

August 26th, 2008 by Ally in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

A couple of years ago someone decided to do a quick DIY project and turn a decapitated teddy into a USB drive.  Well now some manufacturer has decided to release something very similar to the general public.  This looks even more morbid than the koala and monkey USB card readers that have been making the rounds through all kinds of tech blogs.  Which makes this teddy bear my new favorite headless gadget.

Secret Diary Keep Your Writings Secure

August 25th, 2008 by Mark R in PC Gadgets, Spy Stuff, Toys

Even though we live in an age of blogging, some of us still prefer putting our thoughts down so only we can see them. For those who reject the traditional locked notebook model of a diary, you will be pleased to know that the Secret Diary is completely digital.

The Secret Diary looks like a USB Flash Drive, but that’s just its cover. It lives up to its name as the designated user must enter in a 4 digit Pin number on the built-in numeric keypad in order to get in. The data is stored via 256-bit AES cypto.

Unfortunately, there is another security feature that will hopefully never get used. You see, if someone tries to hack into someone else’s Secret Diary, it will implement a self-destruct procedure that will erase all the sensitive information. Yeah, that would be too bad if that happened. Maybe the user should buy another Secret Diary for a backup.

The USB Monkey SDHC Card Reader

August 25th, 2008 by Ally in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Remember the Koala USB Card Reader?  Well here’s another animal card reader that in order to use it, you snatch off the poor little guy’s head.   This one is of course cooler, because monkeys are always cooler than koalas.  It’s a rule or something, monkeys just have more geek appeal.  Plus to add to the geek appeal there is the morbid extra of ripping off it’s head every time you use it.

Microsoft SideWinder X6 keyboard

August 23rd, 2008 by Edwin in Gaming Gadgets, PC Gadgets

Microsoft has taken the opportunity to announce the SideWinder X6 keyboard at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, adding yet another member to the venerable SideWinder line of gaming peripherals from the software giant. It seems as though Microsoft Hardware laid low for quite some time, and the SideWinder name has not exactly lighted up the gaming world for some time already, so hopefully the X6’s debut will change all that. This is touted to be the most versatile gaming keyboard on the market thanks to the pioneering switchable key pad which can be attached to either the left or right side of the keyboard, catering for both left- and right-handers.
