It’s a Mouse, It’s a Game Controller, It’s a Remote Control – No, It’s the Chameleon X1

by Julie

I’m a huge fan of multitasking. In fact, the more a thing can do fairly well, the more fun it is for me. I never kid myself though, most of the time when something tries to do too much it doesn’t usually do most of it very well, like the Chinese pizza and taco place down the street.

However, if there were to be 3 things that should fit great together, why wouldn’t it be a seemingly ordinary, albeit simply gorgeous mouse, that when flipped upside down, offers a fully functional game controller and a PC remote that can bring up your iTunes with the push of a button, flip through some tracks, handle your PowerPoint presentation and shut down your computer. DocuScan does a pretty bang up job

by Edwin

The name DocuScan itself sends the signal that it is a portable document scanner, where £149.99 will net you this rather nifty device. Sleek and compact, this is an all-in-one full color scanner that makes short work of digitizing all your photos, articles and paperwork. All you need to do is feed it with a bunch of photos and other printed material, and you’re good to go. Photos will automatically be archived in the JPEG format at 300 DPI resolution, while scans can automatically be previewed on its 2.4-inch color display without having to connect to a comptuer prior via USB. If it ever runs out of memory, you can always swap the full SD card for an empty one and you can continue scanning (up to A4 in size). Sounds perfect for those who have plenty of archiving to do when it comes to old family pictures!

Mini Spring Rim Basketball Hoop

by Edwin

Love sports? Well, the Mini Spring Rim Basketball Hoop might be your cup of tea then, as this mini-basketball hoop will come complete with a 9-inch spring-loaded rim which encourages spectacular dunks. It is meant for office doors and cube walls, depending on which level of the pecking order you’re at. Not only that, in order to prevent cuts and additional insurance claims by your company, it will sport a clear, shatterproof backboard that measures 16-inches x 23-inches, alongside a white square target painted onto its surface for lay-ups and bankshots. As for the rear perimeter of the backboard, it will come with reinforced foam padding which protects doors. Each $49.95 purchase comes with a 5.5-inch diameter mini-basketball for you to get your dunk on. With twin hooks, they enable use over doors or cube walls. Minor assembly is required before you can break a sweat to let off some steam, especially during a particularly hard day at work.

Hand Paper Shredder

by Edwin

Identity theft is extremely common these days – otherwise, how do you manage to collect so much spam in the virtual as well as real world in such a short period of time without soliciting that many companies in the first place? Well, for those who want to keep things private, there is always something you can do on your part. Case in point, the Hand Paper Shredder that you see here. Don’t get put off by the $23.99 price tag for something that requires manual labor – at least you can be sure that even your sensitive information in the office can be disposed of properly even when there is a blackout, as you need not rely on a power outlet or batteries, using good ol’ fashioned hand crank power instead. The only problem? We don’t think your arms are able to last the distance if you have a few thousand pages of information to shred…

Hands on with the DYMO LabelManager 260P

by Mark R

I’ve had a chance to try out the DYMO LabelManager 360D, and I just got finished trying out the LabelManager 260P, which is sort of a one-handed version of the 360D.

The 260P uses DYMO D1 labels in 1/4″, 3/8″, and 1/2″ widths, and is capable of two lines of text. It is also a Portable and Rechargeable Label Maker, and has a battery that can be recharged at the wall via cord.

The user can choose from 3 fonts and six text styles, and can highlight the text with 8 box styles or underlining. You can also save 9 labels in case you need to use the same text again.

Netgear has expanded their ProSafe Plus Switch family with four more models in order to cater for growing businesses with growing network needs, where all of the new ProSafe Plus Switches will offer built-in cable test support, QoS prioritization for voice & video traffic and VLAN configuration for network segmentation, and even more impressively, doing all of this within 10% of the cost of an unmanaged switch. Those who are in management positions will be able shortlist this as one of the main methods of cutting costs while running a business, that’s for sure.

The Transparent hole-puncher

by Mark R

Disclaimer: There are probably a lot cooler gadgets to report on rather than this. After all, we’ve got robots that look and sound human, for crying out loud! Not to mention all the cool consumer electronics that get released on a daily basis.

So why should I consider writing about a three-hole punch made of transparent plastic? Because we flippin’ need one, that’s why!

Motherboard Pencil Cup

by Edwin

Geeks, it is about time you unite. After all, why not dress up your cubicle to reflect your interest? That’s what the Motherboard Pencil Cup is good for – it will use recycled parts from a motherboard that has been specially preserved to hold your pencils as well as other writing instruments. Retailing for $19.99 a pop, it will ensure your pencils are wrapped graphite in a copper, cadmium and lead vessel at all times, and you can also rest easy knowing that purchasing this would mean you doing your part to keep the earth green since it is made out of recycled motherboards. Measuring 3.25 x 3.25 x 4 inches in dimensions, each one of this will be unique, so you don’t have to worry about your office rival having the exact same thing a few cubicles down. We don’t suppose that those who are pretty fmailiar with DIY projects could probably come up with something like this on their own, but why do so when some money can net you a well prepared and presented model?
