Indiana Jones spruces up your working area

October 1st, 2009 by Edwin in Office Gadgets

indy-deskAre you a big fan of Indiana Jones? Well, why not spruce up your work area with a plethora of Indiana Jones stuff which will surely make your cubicle the hang out place of choice for Indy fans. They’ll come in various forms, ranging from the The Holy Grail Paperclip Holder to the Fertility Idol Pen/Pencil Holder and the Ark of the Covenant Business Card Holder.

The Holy Grail Paperclip Holder
A sacred item guarded through the centuries by the most holy of knights. In addition to the possibility that it grants everlasting life, it has a second secret attribute – it makes a freakin’ sweet paperclip holder! With a magnet built into its base the Holy Grail stores paperclips better than any old coffee mug.

Fertility Idol Pen/Pencil Holder
This was almost impossible for ThinkGeek to acquire. Our monkeys had to brave bottomless pits, giant spiders, poison darts, and a giant boulder to retrieve this item from the depths of the jungle. It is unknown what the Idol’s intended purpose was, but it is the perfect size to hold all your pens and pencils.

Ark of the Covenant Business Card Holder
We at ThinkGeek believe that we are pretty awesome, and we think you are just as awesome for shopping with us. We also know the perils that come with being as awesome as we all are. Namely, when people’s faces melt just from handling our business cards. Don’t you just hate that? It makes such a huge mess! Luckily, the Ark of the Covenant is JUST the thing to solve that problem. It neatly stores your business cards and prevents them from melting the faces off of people that just aren’t as cool as you.

Thanks to ThinkGeek, the Indiana Jones desk accessories you see here will retail anywhere from $34.99 to $39.99, depending on they holder you pick.

Belkin Conserve Surge with Timer

September 30th, 2009 by Ally in Office Gadgets, PC Gadgets

conserve_surge

When it comes to conserving energy and your electronics, sometimes it’s easier said than done.  It would be fairly easy to just flip a switch on your surge protector to power everything down.  However, when it’s way underneath the desk, it takes a lot more effort.  That shouldn’t matter, but in all honesty, it does end up making it so that you power everything down less often.  Well Belkin has come out with a solution that’s not only convenient, but it’s affordable as well.

HP SkyRoom for videoconferencing fans

September 28th, 2009 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Office Gadgets, PC Gadgets

hp-skyroom

HP recently established a new category in videoconferencing by shedding light on their HP SkyRoom, where it is touted to be an affordable, high-definition videoconferencing software which will offer live, real-time collaboration for instant face-to-face meetings. All this without having to fork out a single cent for subscription fees? Sounds like a dream, eh? The HP SkyRoom will be based on breakthrough video and image communication technology that was developed in HP Labs, where elements of this technology has already seen action in NASA’s Mars rovers which transferred high-resolution images back to earth from the Red Planet with huge success. The HP SkyRoom is touted to be the only videoconferencing tool that can offer real-time collaboration for up to four people over a standard business network, costing the company a mere $149 which is much less compared to a round-trip airfare from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Sanyo unveils new line of HD surveillance cameras

September 23rd, 2009 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Office Gadgets

sanyo-cctvSanyo will be bringing in a total of nine new surveillance cameras Stateside, and what makes them special is the fact that they are able to record proceedings in High Definition format – which is a logical step in the right direction, considering the rising crime rate these days and the use of video surveillance to help solve those cases by identifying faces, words as well as providing detail not seen with the human eye long after the event has happened. These nine new HD surveillance cameras are able to offer up to 4MP MJPEG and Full High Definition video for critical security monitoring, making them the first of such a lineup in the world with multi-streaming H.264 and MJPEG codecs. They will come in a quartet of form factors including Box, Dome, Zoom and PTZ.

Sungale 3.5 inch LCD comes with lamp (or is it the other way around?)

September 16th, 2009 by Mark R in Digital Picture Frame, Office Gadgets

SungaledesklampThe first thing I thought of when I saw Sungale’s new desk lamp was that it reminded me of some prop on The Prisoner.

That, or some other weird sixties British science-fiction show where the set designers thought they were being futuristic, but it ends up looking completely ridiculous by today’s standards.

In other words, I can just see agent John Steed sitting at his desk, turn on the two-way communication screen with his umbrella, and utter “Miss Peel, we’re needed”.

I realize that some of you might not get The Avengers reference, and that’s fine. However, you should admire Sungale’s retro-looking combination of a lamp and digital picture frame.

Spy Keylogger

September 16th, 2009 by Edwin in Office Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Spy Stuff, USB Gadgets

spy-keyloggerWant to know what’s going on behind the scenes with your desktop at work whenever you leave the office? The Spy Keylogger ought to come in handy, featuring 2MB of internal memory to store all the keystrokes made whenever you’re not around. Of course, it works with most wired keyboards, so those who are using wireless keyboards will be able to get away scot free. With devices like these getting more and more commonplace, we would recommend you check out the back of your desktop the moment you clock in for work just in case someone is snooping around your office activity, trying to garner a password or two from you in the process.

These keyloggers act as the “man-in-the-middle,” monitoring each keystroke as it flies down your cable into your computer. You notice nothing, since every key you type gets dutifully reproduced on your screen. Somewhere, however, you’ve got a sneaky person quietly recording everything, just waiting for you to step away for a few minutes so they can retrieve the offending device and play back everything. The logger saves every keystroke into onboard memory. To read the contents, remove the logger and connect it to your own computer and keyboard. Typing in a password into any text-editor begins the memory-dump process.

Available in USB or PS/2 interface models, the Spy Keylogger will retail for $59.99 and $74.99, respectively.
