Brain Stress Ball

by Edwin

What happens when your brain gets all stressed up at work? Well, most of you who work behind a cubicle these days know just how tough it can be in a corporate environment, where there are datelines to meet (often within impossible time frames), while the boss can be quite unforgiving as well. Well, what are some of the ways for you to release all of that pent up stress?

Among what some of you could do would be to basically be an ass around the rest of your colleagues, adopting the “kick the dog when I get home” syndrome just to let the whole world know what a lousy day you had at the office. Of course, you can always take the more peaceful route such as the $5.99 Brain Stress Ball, where you can imagine yourself in the position of Captain Blackbeard in the latest PotC installment, with your immediate superior’s brain in hand.

What makes this extra special is you can always hurl it right across the room, where it will splat into a wall, crawling down to the floor slowly after that. Disgusting, but we love it!

The Gymygym Chair – Workout at Work

by Julie

My husband pointed out a common thread to most of my posts. That if a gadget cuts down on the amount of physical exertion required to do a task, I’m all for it. Well, just to prove him wrong, I’m going to introduce you to the Gymygym Chair, the world’s first ergonomic office / exercise chair designed for the busy executive.

The Gymygym’s patented flat bungee seating system is designed to conform to you, providing you with the perfect combination of give and support wherever you need it, but the coolest part is that GymyGym incorporates four unique and discretely integrated exercise stations in the body of the chair, allowing you to exercise and strengthen all your major muscle groups, all while hammering out the details of your next big deal at the office. Cool Leaf Mirror Keyboard is now a reality

by Mark R

About a year ago, we covered some concept products known as Cool Leaf, a keyboard with a mirrored surface. Generally, I don’t have much confidence in concept technology, but it is refreshing to see that Japanese company Minebea actually is going to sell the Cool Leaf keyboard.

The Mirrored keyboard is possible as the reflective surface is essentially one big capacitive touch panel. Though you may not hear any clickity-click of the keys, it has haptic feedback to give you a little vibration when you hit the keys.

One of the best parts is the easy clean option. All the user has to do is give it a good wipe, and it is clean. No more dust getting caught in between the keys anymore!

The last typewriter company is no more, as is the typewriter

by Mark R

An India-based typewriter manufacturing company known as Godrej and Boyce has just closed its doors, which means that no typewriters will ever be on the market again.

The company states that since the early 2000′s and upwards, computers dominated the market. All the other manufacturers of office typewriters ceased, but Godrej and Boyce continued to make ten to twelve thousand of these typewriting machines until 2009. Now, it is down to 200 typewriters in its stock.

It is hard to believe that this is the end of the typewriter, but we shouldn’t really be surprised. The only reason we kept them around is to fill in official documents. However, these documents are now on computers, and it is just easier to fill in the documents on a computer and print out both. Especially now when most documents are available online.

Hands on with the Dymo LabelManager PnP

by Mark R

I have reported on DYMO’s products before, and they are very good at putting out label makers like the 360D and the LabelManager 260P.

The newest member of the DYMO team, the LabelManager PnP (Plug and Play), is not an independent label printing device but requires a computer for it. It is capable of printing labels that are 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch wide, provided it has the proper cartridge, the D1 label cassette.

The best part about the LabelManager Pnp is how well it lives up to its Plug and Play feature. It really is incredibly easy to use, as you just plug it into the USB port. From there, my computer recognized the device immediately, and I didn’t have to download any CD-Rom software for it.

Toshiba Tecra 840 laptop delivers performance and style in a single package

by Edwin

Toshiba has been in the mobile computing business for quite some time already, but that doesn’t mean the Japanese company is resting on its laurels. No sir, in fact they have just announced the Toshiba Tecra 840 business laptop that intends to a lightweight body and superior battery life without sacrificing on performance. Touted to be some of the thinnest Toshiba business laptops to date, the Tecra R840 is rather impressive by being around 25% thinner and 20% lighter compared to its predecessor, the Tecra M11.

Of course, being big on performance means not skimping on the processor used, and you will be pleased to know that Toshiba has included the 2nd generation Intel Core processors to choose from, not to mention high-speed 7200 RPM hard drives or the choice of a 128GB SSD and optional AMD Radeon discrete graphics with 1GB of dedicated graphics memory. As for the other hardware specifications, you can check it out in the extended post for further detail.

X-Cool is a new gaming look for the calculator

by Mark R

Do you remember the day when a calculator was a separate tool from your cellular phone? Man, I can still remember the days when pocket calculators were expensive. They were really big back in the late seventies when the tech got small and cheap, but I highly doubt there is a big market for them now.

This particular calculator is known as the X-Cool, and it is a very obvious attempt to make math look cool by turning this calculator into a mod of a video game controller. The fact that the calculator has X in its title is a definite indicator of the X-box 360 controller that it is similar to, but it has the color of a PS3 one.

Pentel airpenPocket digital pen

by Edwin

Pentel has something extremely interesting up their sleeves this time around, where what they are offering is definitely different from what you would expect. Instead of the business-as-usual stationery, along ambles the airpenPocket digital pen. Yup, by its name alone, you can tell that this is definitely something more than special.

Just what the heck is the airpenPocket, you ask? For the uninitiated, this is actually a digital pen which is capable of wirelessly transmitting characters as well as images it draws on paper to a computer. To know what kind of technological wizardry lies behind this writing instrument (or rather, inside its chassis), you might as well hit the rest of the post.
