Palm Centro says, “Hello World!”

September 28th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Office Gadgets

palm-centro.jpg

Palm has just released its smallest smartphone known as the Centro, and you definitely won’t expect the usual high end features that come with Palm’s releases (admit it - their line of Treos always worked up a frenzy each time they were released, only to be superceded by other notable handsets a short while later). The Centro will strangely enough, occupy the low end segment of the mobile market as Palm aims to revive its flagging fortunes by offering a (much) cheaper alternative to the highly desirable iPhone. The Centro is but a stripped down version of the Treo, being smaller and lighter, and will retail for a mere $100 - a price point that is sensitive enough to make it an impulse purchase in some cases.

The Wooden Chair Mat

September 28th, 2007 by Al in Office Gadgets

Hardwood Office Chair Mat

Wheeling your chair along carpet is no where near as much fun as a wooden floor, but we can’t all have the luxury of a nice wooden floor, some of us have to put up with cheapy carpet tiles. However we can now experience the fun of wood thanks to the hardwood office chair mat.

This portable office mat is 1″ thick, comes fully assembled, stays in place, and will not warp or deteriorate, unlike typical plastic office mats that crack and splinter. It has two fold-out wings that are connected with a patent pending recessed hinge system hidden from view that will not mar surfaces nor snag carpet.

The wooden mat will set you back $299.95 and only covers 48″ x 49″ (not enough space for any decent chair race) so maybe carpet tiles aren’t that bad after all.

September 27th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Office Gadgets, PC Gadgets

zipit-z2.jpgZipit has just revealed the Z2 Wireless Messenger that will run on any WiFi network, supporting AOL, Yahoo! and MSN IM platforms to allow you to keep in touch with all your buddies simultaneously without worry. There is even an integrated music player known as MyTunez in the Z2 itself, allowing you to groove to your favorite tunes that are stored on a miniSD card. Oh yeah, it works equally fine with tunes streamed from the Internet so no worries there. The MyPhotoz function is self-explanatory - you get to view slideshows and individual photos while waiting for a reply from HotChiq19. Inkless metal pen developed

September 23rd, 2007 by Edwin in Home Gadgets, Office Gadgets

metalpoint.jpgThere is nothing quite as irritating as picking up a ball-point pen that doesn’t work, and even more so when you have done so one after another. Why can’t people just throw away old pens that do not work instead of amassing a rather sizable collection that do nothing but contribute to the overall clutter of the environment? How different would the world be if pens did not use any sort of ink to write stuff down? This is what we’ll explore today, with the inkless metal pen that does not contain a single drop of ink (as evident by its name, of course), and yet is capable of writing on most paper types without the need for a refill? Sounds almost like magic with a fair sprinkling of pixie dust, doesn’t it? I surely thought so, but there’s more to this inkless metal pen than meets the eye.

Label Maker gets into Compact Disc printing

September 22nd, 2007 by James in Electronic Gadgets, Office Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Disc Painter

It’s no secret that CD & DVD users long to have professional looking labels on the movies and audio collections they create. But stickers can damage the CD or even the players should the centripetal force of spinning the disk cause it to separate. And printing directly onto a disc from your PCs printer is a patent owned by only one printer manufacturer.

So, athough Epson printer users can enjoy printing directly onto CD & DVDs, users of Canon, HP and other printers can’t enjoy the ability of putting full color designed onto the discs of their most cherished video memories or cd collections. Dymo, the company that ‘s know for those colorful strip label makers, answers the call with their Dymo DiscPainter.
