BTM-118 FM Radio Bluetooth Headset

June 3rd, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones

The BTM-118 FM Radio Bluetooth Headset definitely goes one up on all other generic Bluetooth headsets as it does way more than just handle all your conversations so that you can make available both hands to attend to other matters at the immediate moment. It comes with an integrated FM radio, allowing you to tune in to your favorite FM station whenever you’re bored at the office and having run out of MP3s to listen to. In addition to auto-search, the BTM-118 can also store up to eight different stations for future convenience. Available in black or white colors, the BTM-118 FM Radio Bluetooth Headset retails for $53.

4-Port USB Hub with cell phone charger

June 3rd, 2008 by Edwin in Mobile Phones, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Man, USB hubs these days seem to get more and more useful. Take this one for example - not only does it feature a quartet of high-speed USB 2.0 ports, it also doubles up as a cell phone charger. If you happen to use a compatible handset (Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson models only - sorry, Motorola!), all you need to do is hook it up to resume catching up on the latest news with your buddies. Once done, the USB cable and cell phone charging cable can be wrapped within the hub for that neat look. This device retails for $16.50.

Mimique Cell Phone is the Old with the New

June 3rd, 2008 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Mobile Phones

I suppose that whoever came up with the name of the Mimique was probably looking for some fancy way of saying mimic. The Mimique concept cellular phone from RKS certainly “mimics” several aspects of both old-school and contemporary cellular phones.

As far as old school goes, the Mimique phone has the distinctive shape of those ten-year-old phones, down to that side antenna that hopefully did something.

As for the newest design influences, the Mimique has full touchscreen capability. One of the reasons why RKS designers decided to go with the old-school shape was they thought the iPhone and iPod touch looked too much alike. They wanted to make a touchscreen phone that actually looked like a phone, not some other mobile device.

Bluetooth 2.0 Portable Handsfree Car Kit

May 28th, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Vehicle Gadgets

I guess most states have long outlawed the use of cell phone use while driving, and one risks a hefty fine from the authorities if they decide to throw caution to the wind by not picking up some sort of handsfree solution. Why toy with the chance of losing money to the traffic authorities through fines when you can put that money to better use elsewhere? The Bluetooth 2.0 Portable Handsfree Car Kit would be a pretty good investment at $99.90 as it features a Caller ID display as well so that you know whether to take up that call or not, in addition to a phonebook functionality that makes it a snap to scroll through who you want to talk to next on a long road trip. Other features include an integrated DSP circuit for echo and background noise cancellation, offering you the clearest conversations possible.

Verizon Wireless rolls out Motorola W755

May 28th, 2008 by Edwin in Mobile Phones

I seriously wonder what the folks at Motorola are doing, as releasing phones such as the W755 over Verizon Wireless isn’t going to win them any points with the consumers anytime soon, and it looks as though time is running out for the Big M as they suffer from their own success - the RAZR. It has been a fair number of years since the RAZR hit the market, and since then many variations as well as newer models based on the original design have rolled out, but none of them truly embodied the spirit of the original RAZR, causing Motorola to lose market share to its other rivals while seeing its stock price plummet just like how the greenback is compared to other major currencies around the world. If you don’t think that the W755 won’t be able to save Motorola, why not head on after the jump to read up on its rather mediocre specifications list.

HAVA Mobile Player

May 27th, 2008 by Mark R in Mobile Phones

I think that we’re all getting to the point where we want to have complete control over our television watching experience. No more watching a television show whenever “they” want us to. I suppose that you could buy a TiVo or other DVR brand if you want that, but some want to take it step further and go mobile.

So why not have something on your mobile telephone that allows you to watch and control all of the home television channels and services from anywhere? I believe the Slingbox already does this service, but so does the HAVA.

The HAVA Mobile Player is a Symbian S60 optimized version of the HAVA Player that was originally designed to work with PCs and other mobile devices. The most outstanding feature is the control over DVR programming, and a user can even program it over a distance.

Japanese gamers can buy MS Points via cell phone now

May 27th, 2008 by Chris in Gaming Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Tech News

It seems like Japan is always on the bleeding edge of technology. They always tend to get many of the best games and gadgets well before the rest of the world. Despite the fact that the Xbox 360 isn’t doing very well in Japan, they have a new way to buy points for the console; via cell phone.

Hop-On rolls out $10 phone

May 25th, 2008 by Edwin in Mobile Phones

So you think that having the fancy pants (and soon to come) 3G iPhone or HTC Touch Diamond is the ultimate goal in life? Well sorry to burst your bubble mate, but not everyone thinks of a cell phone as a status symbol. Which explains why the middle class and entry level markets teem with handsets that sport but the most basic of functions, and it is definitely a market that does not seem to slow down anytime soon. Hop-On, Inc. is certainly aware of such a huge market and aims to capitalize on the potential volume by releasing its latest GSM cell phone known as the Hop1800. The Hop1800 is readily available throughout the US for a surprisingly low, low price of just $10. Yes sir, for 10 clams you will now be able to pick up a handset that works worldwide, making it the perfect backup cell phone especially for folks who tend to travel a whole lot. Sure, it might not double up as a 3G modem or feature WiFi connectivity, but at least you can be sure it will make and receive calls no matter where you are (subject to signal strength, of course).
