Samsung “female” phone mystery.

May 11th, 2006 by Paz in Mobile Phones

Samsung E500?

As Mother’s Day approaches, the coolest gadgets team are getting in touch with our female side to bring you this distinctively feminine-looking cell E500 mobile phone from Samsung, said to be inspired by Bottocelli’s “Birth of Venus” – though try as hard as we can, we don’t see how!

There aren’t any detailed specifications, and we’ll be discussing that later, but it looks stylish and unique, and comes with a handy LCD mirror and leather carrying case.

World’s Thinnest Mobile Phone

May 9th, 2006 by Al in Mobile Phones

Thinnest Mobile Phone

If the saying “Good things come in small packages” is right then Samsung are onto a winner with the world’s thinnest thinnest mobile phone, the SGH-X820.

The SGH-X820 is super slim measuring just 6.9mm thick and weighing 66g. In that tiny box it manages to squeeze in Bluetooth and a two-megapixel camera (somehow I don’t think it will have an optical zoom).

I couldn’t find much other news about it yet, it is due out in Europe later this month though you can expect your wallet to be thinner than the phone if you’re an early adopter. (via).

The Phone Bag

May 8th, 2006 by Al in Mobile Phones, Wacky Gadgets

Mobile Phone BagIf you have trouble remembering your mobile but always carry your bag then why not combine the two with the 1970’s Telephone Bag.

The telephone bag is a fully working phone, though it’s not really a mobile as it does require a jack to connect. The handset also functions as the bags handle whilst the front of the bag contains the buttons you’d expect on a normal phone.

Available from La Pochette for $295, found on Sci Fi (it also comes in red if black just isn’t your style).

Snake handsfree kit

It may look more like a snorkel but this is a hands free kit for your mobile. The Iqua SNAKE is designed to slot between your car seat and headrest, it then communicates via bluetooth with your mobile whilst you communicate via your mouth and ears with your friends.

World Cup Clips Off in Style - Bluetooth headsets

May 4th, 2006 by Al in Mobile Phones, Sport

World Cup Bluetooth headsets
The Football World Cup is only weeks away and I’m already starting to see a few gadgets aimed directly at us supporters (many of them alcohol related funnily enough). The latest footy fan gadget that I’ve just heard of (thanks Malini) is the specially decorated Bluetooth headsets in the colours of your team.

Biodegradable Mobile Phone

April 26th, 2006 by Lexia in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Wacky Gadgets

Sunflower MobileResearchers at Warwick University, PVAXX Research and Motorola are showing off a prototype of a revolutionary biodegradable phone cover containing a Sunflower seed at this year’s Dead Ringers exhibition at the Science Musuem in London.

In an effort to stem the amount of waste produced by dumped mobile phones, researchers used a biodegradable polymer as mobile phone cladding and implanted a sunflower seed inside the phone. The phone cover biodegrades in compost, releasing important nutrients that nurse the growing sunflower seedling.

I’d love to see this adopted by mobile manufacturers - it would be nice to see at least part of our gadgets being saved form the dump and reused to decorate our gardens !
