Oscars iPhone Ad

February 26th, 2007 by methodshop in Mobile Phones

If you were watching last night’s American broadcast of the Oscars, then you might have noticed the first Apple iPhone ad. Apple reportedly paid $1.7 million to run the ad during the Oscars. The ad features 28 scenes from popular movies and TV shows with actors saying “hello” on a phone. The ad ends with an image of the iPhone and some text that says “Coming in June”. You can see the ad here on YouTube.com.

According to Gizmodo, this phone will be in service with AT&T instead of Cingular.

Farty Ring Tones

February 22nd, 2007 by Al in Mobile Phones, Wacky Gadgets

Fart Ring Tone
Juevenile, Yes! Funny Maybe! The Fart Ringtone, for when people who talk crap ring you up.

I’ve never got into the buying ring tone game but if I did I know a fair few people that would make this noise when they call, though why you’d pay for a fart is beyond me.

The fart ringtone is available from dada, but do you really want to spend money listening to wind.

What’s in your gear bag? How do you roll portable?

February 19th, 2007 by Fred in Audio/Video Gadgets, DIY Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gadget Reviews, Mobile Phones, iPod gadgets

So everyone has one, some call it a purse, some call it a satchel, just just call it, “My darn bag.” fred’s bag

Either way, you’ve got one. You use your bag on the go. Most of all, you’ve got a bag filled with stuff you think is useful enough that if it all went down, you’d be the one swinging from the trees, able to make fire, and live high off the hog while the rest of us can barely remember how to talk.

To add a layer of transparency to this, I’ve started with my own daily dragger. Here is the list of what I keep in there and why. I can’t wait to hear what everyone else is lugging around, it’s always been a mystery to me.

First off, I’ve got a bag I’ve had for years here from Dana Gleason the former owner/creator of Dana Design bags from Bozeman Montana. Now he’s got a new company Mystery Ranch. It’s the best bag you’ll ever own, (I’ve got a Dana Backpack still as well, they’re bulletproof man!) Plus Dana himself is one heck of a guy, irrepressible and will always stand out in a crowd, (he’s about 6′5″ with a flaming red beard) you can’t miss him! They just make the best bags, period.

Now on to the internal goodies!

Win1, Playing Big Brother with Your Kids

February 16th, 2007 by Nick in Childrens Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Spy Stuff

Win1

If you have kids, I bet you are always worried about where they are at all times. The Spanish company Imaginarium designed a line of cell phones that enhance the security of the most important person in the world, your son (or daughter, in my case). The Win1 cell phone can keep you in contact with your children in a unique way. This phone can only make and receive calls to numbers pre-selected by the parents, and it even has a video camera that works as a monitoring station, so you can see exactly what they’re up to.

Samgung unveils the world’s slimmest phone

February 15th, 2007 by Dan in Mobile Phones

samsungslimphone.jpgSamsung is again at the forefront of the mobile technology. Recently they unveiled an ultra-slim mobile handset, called u100, which is 5.9mm thin. Sometime ago we had covered Sony’s attack into the mobile phone market with 8 new mobile phones (read here). It looks like the South Korean electronics manufacturer was not quite happy with that and decided to respond adequately.

Samsung, in fact, announced not only the slimmest phone in the world by also 5 more models. The first two are new models of the Ultra II line, and the other three are included on the Ultra Special series, focused on multimedia functionalities.

Most of the announced models will be available as soon as the next month, but there are no details about the price.

Mambo GPS tracker and cellphone

February 14th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones

mambo-gps-tracking.jpg

Take a look at any mid-range cellphone these days and you get all sorts of extras such as WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a generous color display (perhaps even with touchscreen functionality for smartphones), a memory card slot of some kind, MP3 and video playback, and the omnipresent digital camera. What else can cellphone manufacturers put in to place them ahead of the competition? Why, the answer lies in GPS of course. Falcom of Germany has recently released the Mambo cellphone which is actually a tri-band GSM/GPRS cellphone that comes with an integrated personal GPS tracker.
