Proporta USB Mobile Device Charger

October 6th, 2006 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones, USB Gadgets, iPod gadgets

Proporta USB Mobile Device Charger
I like proporta.com, they sell a load of cool stuff and also sent me a goodie bag of gadgets (which is a very good way to get my attention :)), the majority of which I’ll be giving away in our forums. Their latest product is the USB Mobile Device Charger.

Problem…

Battery life of new power-hungry mobile devices has a lot to answer for. We all know how annoying it is when your device runs out of battery when you need it the most - the phone call you had to make, the 3 hour journey you are on with no book to read, or that deal breaking email that you had to send… www.proporta.com have come up with the answer.

Solution…

2 new cool Sony Ericsson cellphones - Z558 and W830

October 5th, 2006 by Tiago in Mobile Phones

Sony Ericsson Z558
Sony Ericsson has recently added 4 cellphones that can be mentioned as upgrades of previous versions, I will mention 2 of them that I liked and would probably buy if money wasn’t a problem. While cellphones don’t have the right to a daily appearance on Coolest Gadgets (which is good) these newborns deserve some attention because they are kind of unique.

To start with we have the Z558 (previous Z550) that is oriented for China and the surrounding markets, it is special because it is the first cellphone from Sony Ericsson that doesn’t uses the Symbian software and the other bonus is having a touch screen & stylus system – this is a kind of rare feature to see on clamshell phones. There is still an extra incentive that many people will love or hate depending on how easy it is to use, the character recognition (special with Chinese characters) might make life easier hard when writing text for SMS. D-Link announces dual-mode cellphone

October 4th, 2006 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones
Coolest Gadgets

d-link-v-click.jpgWe all know how most smartphones these days come with WiFi connectivity, enabling you to make VoIP calls at WiFi hotspots. D-Link decided to throw its lot into the cellphone industry by lifting the curtains on its new V-Click dual-mode cellphone that enables users to switch between the regular cellular and WiFi networks at just a single click of a button. The V-Click is less of a smartphone as it comes with a measly 2″ 176 x 220 pixel color display, and leans more toward a cellphone with its form factor and overall design.

Watch spread comes with Bluetooth

September 28th, 2006 by Edwin in Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones
Coolest Gadgets

bluetooth-watch.jpgIt seems that as more and more people are affluent enough to purchase cellphones, they tend to shun picking up a watch as the cellphone already comes with a built-in clock that tells the time equally well. The only drawback would be the hassle of dragging the handset out of the pocket each time you want to see how many minutes are there left before you head home from work after a stressful day. Hence, the once-faithful watch has been relegated to the position of a fashionable timepiece for most, and a collectors’ item for a selected, privileged few.

The Jitterbug

September 9th, 2006 by Mike in Mobile Phones

The Jitterbug
Cell phones do more and more these days, they can browse the web, play video and music, provide you with GPS directions, take videos and more. That’s great for some people, but there are some that just want a phone that will call 911 and a few friends when they need it.

That’s what the Jitterbug does. Don’t be afraid of the silly name, it’s not one of one of those kid oriented phones such as the Firefly, it actually looks pretty sleek.

Rear View Mirror with Caller ID

September 8th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Vehicle Gadgets

Rear Bluetooth Mirror

It always annoys me when I see people driving around holding a mobile to their ear. Hands free kits are generally pretty cheap, this one may be a bit on the expensive side but it compensates by the cool factor.

The Bluetooth Mirror is clips over your cars normal rear view mirror, it incorporates a microphone and speakers so that you can chat totally hands free and as it uses bluetooth there are no unsightly wires and you can leave your mobile in your pocket. The feature that I think is really cool is the Caller ID display, so before answering the call you can see who is calling by the number being displayed on the mirror.

The Bluetooth mirror is available from Gadget Box for £99.99.

Cell Phones for your Pets

August 30th, 2006 by Al in Mobile Phones, Pet Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Pet PhoneI didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when I first read about this, a cell phone for your pets, PetsCell™.

The PetsCell is a fully waterpoof voice enabled mobile phone that you attach to your dogs collar. Your dog then has it’s own number you can call it on, so if he gets lost you can call him up and ask him where he is, woof once for the park or twice for the nearest lampost.
