While the Treo 680 and 750 smartphones might come in a sleek package without the unsightly antenna, they also utilize smaller capacity batteries when compared to previous iterations of the Treo line which results in a reduced battery life - a dire situation if you’re a power user who constantly has emails to reply while on the road, juggling tasks like making phone calls and sending memos while hurtling down the freeway at speeds that would make a traffic cop choke on his donut. What better way to remedy this situation than by carrying a spare battery with you on your travels? Just make sure that this spare battery is always charged, which is where the Treo Battery Charger comes in handy.

April 20th, 2007 by David in Mobile Phones
It appears that we will be seeing the long awaited Google phone sooner than we originally thought, or maybe not depending on your point of view and possibly insider information. But again this has been a long running saga where the original stories began to break about the phone, followed swiftly by all the rumors about what it may do, what it cannot do and so on, until it reaches the point where we all wonder if this is really ever going to happen at all. Clearly it is now, so what has the Google phone got in store for us?

The Nokia 6120 : a revived classic
April 19th, 2007 by Andi in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Mobile Phones
Nokia seems to either want to sell some more stuff by building up on old products’ reputation, or they’ve just ran out of index numbers from their phones. Their latest announcement however promises a lot: a re-edit of the 6110/6120, a phone considered to be the best in its class (business class, that is) for quite a while after its release.
The old device had really good features for its time (WAP, E-mail, IR which you could use to print your e-mails, notes, business cards etc). This time, we get a 3G and HSDPA s60 smartphone, and all the goodness this implies.

More competition for the infamous iPhone
April 17th, 2007 by David in Mobile Phones
The problem with announcing a revolutionary new product months before you can actually get it out onto the marketplace is that you have shown your hand to the competition. If it is so fantastic that it is bound to set the world on fire, then it is inevitable that the competition will attempt to either copy or at the very least imitate your brand new concept; this appears to be the case for Apple and the iPhone.

The Sky IM-R200: keyboard?… Umm.
April 17th, 2007 by Andi in Mobile Phones, Tech News
Smudgy glossy surfaces and touch screens are so ‘in’ today! After some very cool mobiles, Sky Mobile thought they should break the monotony while still benefiting from the hype and have released the Sky IM-R200. On first glance, it seems to be yet another black shiny slider phone, but upon opening it you’ll find there is no keyboard but instead another display.

Cellphones to smell in the future?
April 15th, 2007 by Edwin in Conceptual Gadgets, Mobile Phones
Motorola has recently received a patent for a handset which is capable of releasing scents by heating a gel packet, operating on the same principle as that of a plug-in air freshener. The handset comes with a power amplifier that can activate this feature without having the cellphone suffer from dramatic design changes. This is essential since Motorola has long moved on from unwieldy cellphones to their current slick and slim handsets which are the company’s main source of revenue.
Classy Wooden Phone: The S-Series
April 15th, 2007 by Andi in Mobile Phones
Here’s a thing that we don’t see that often nowadays: a concept phone that doesn’t have a futuristic, outlandish design, but rather sticks to a classic look. And by classic I don’t mean just ‘old-school sliding camera phone’, I mean wood. Yes, wood. The casing is made out of beautiful lacquered wood, giving it a somewhat noble look.

Load-Thing, a simple answer to an everyday question
April 12th, 2007 by Fred in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Mobile Phones, PC GadgetsThe Load-Thing, it does the one thing everyone always needs and never really has,
a simple way to charge your electronics.
I really like the design and simplicity of the “Load-Thing” (I’m sure it sounds really cool in German). It simply folds into shape and holds your iPod, Game Boy, PSP, Mobile, or whatever you need to charge (that doesn’t weigh too much).
Also, it has the really cool knack of being able to be shipped flat in an envelope, and you don’t need any tools to put it together! This is one really clever design.
One issue to note, is that it looks like it fits Euro style plugs a bit better than US plugs, but a real test would tell the truth on that (anyone own one yet?) Get to it, they only cost 9.90 Euros. Read the rest of this entry »
