Nokia might be looking at its smartphone share in the US being eaten up like nobody’s business no thanks to its rivals from a variety of manufacturers who have come up with a much cleaner user interface and seamless ease-of-use. Still, that doesn’t mean this cellphone manufacturing giant is going to give up that easily elsewhere in the world. The Finnish company aims to strengthen its grip in the China market by announcing its first device for TD-SCDMA – China’s domestic 3G standard, simply known as the Nokia 6788. The Nokia 6788 is the result of close collaboration between Nokia and the world’s largest mobile phone operator, China Mobile. After all, in a country where there is more than a billion people will definitely offer an extremely lucrative potential market, no?

October 28th, 2009 by Edwin in Mobile Phones
Motorola’s highly anticipated DROID smartphone looks set to enter into action this coming November 6th via Verizon Wireless, where the smartphone was specially designed to outperform its rivals in terms of their weaknesses, although a thought of whether the DROID has any weakness of its own does surface. The Motorola DROID will offer access to high-speed Web browsing, voice-activated search, customizable large screen, as well as access to thousands of Android applications alongside hundreds of widgets, making sure you will have a ball of a time with the handset.
Sony Ericsson Equinox heading our way
October 27th, 2009 by Edwin in Mobile Phones
Sony Ericsson might not be the largest cellphone manufacturer in the world, but this Japanese-Swedish outfit does come up with pretty stylish handsets not only in the past but has maintained a consistent standard to date, offering entry level phones alongside camera-centric ones from the Cybershot line and wonderful audio devices from the Walkman line. This time round, T-Mobile USA will be the beneficiary of the Sony Ericsson Equinox this coming fall where it will allow you to express your individualism through unique pulsating night effects that ensures users will not miss a call or text message.
Sprint to offer Palm Pixi next month
October 27th, 2009 by Edwin in Mobile Phones
Currently, there is only one WebOS-powered device in the market which is the Palm Pre, but that will change when November 15 rolls around as Sprint will be offering the second WebOS device known as Palm Pixi. While the handset has been previewed in the past, it is still rather exciting to know that the Pixi is finally ready to make the jump to the market, where it will cost you $99.99 with a two-year service agreement, where this happens right after a $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate. Looks like perfect timing to build upon for the upcoming holiday season, although we’re not too sure just how well the sales figures would be for Palm and Sprint during that quarter.
Jabra Stone Bluetooth headset
October 21st, 2009 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones
I remember back in the day where Bluetooth just kicked off, and having a cellphone with Bluetooth connectivity, much less a Bluetooth headset, was considered to be high end. Fast forward a few years and we have Bluetooth technology embedded in just about most entry-level handsets and above. This is a good thing as well since more and more countries have outlawed drivers from talking on the phone while on the road unless they have a hands-free kit of sorts, which is where Bluetooth headsets come in handy. Jabra is a name that is associated with quality Bluetooth headsets, and their latest release would be the Jabra Stone that will usher in a new era in style after breaking the mold of the traditional Bluetooth headset.
Motorola Debut i856 now out from Sprint
October 13th, 2009 by Edwin in Mobile Phones
Sprint is offering a new iDEN phone in the form of the Motorola Debut i856 which will see the combination of Nextel Direct Connect, best-in-class push-to-talk services, in a stylish multimedia device that is suitable for both business and consumer applications. The Motorola Debut i856 is a compact slider handset that will feature a smooth gliding action that makes it the ideal candidate for easy one-handed operation, which means the keypad will remain secure whenever it is not in use, without cramping your style whenever you are about to engage in easy accessibility for instant communication between two people or a group of people, regardles of whether they are next door or in the next state. Apart from that, the Debut i856 also holds the distinction of being the first device to offer the upgraded ability to switch from an active push-to-talk call to an interconnect voice call at the touch of a button.
Kempler & Strauss unveils Billionair 7 smartphone
October 9th, 2009 by Edwin in Mobile Phones
We recently covered a device from Kempler & Strauss in the form of the highly interesting W PhoneWatch, and it seems that the company wants to extend its 15 minutes of fame by another quarter of an hour by unveiling the Billionair 7 smartphone. Guess all the money in the world can’t buy an education since the world Billionair is mis-spelt (on purpose, no doubt), making us wonder what happened to the first six iterations of the Billionair range. Making its debut at the International CTIA Wireless event, this next-generation feature-rich business-class smartphone is touted to integrate the best user interfaces of the most popular business and consumer smartphone platforms available in the market today in order to deliver the first GSM quad-band 3.5G phone based on the Microsoft Windows Mobile Platform.
T-Mobile releases limited edition myTouch 3G Fender phone
October 8th, 2009 by Ally in Mobile Phones
I doubt there will ever be a shortage of Fender fans out there and somehow I think Guitar Hero and games along those lines have created even more. Which makes T-mobile’s new special edition phone a great idea. At this point there’s a slight guitar craze even among those that don’t have a clue about guitars. Fender has become much like Harley in that people that don’t drive Harley’s still wear the products. Well this myTouch has a Fender look that’s bound to please any guitar lovers out there.
