Motorola H680 Female Bluetooth headset

July 21st, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Mobile Phones

Motorola has made its intentions clear with this new Bluetooth headset in Korea known as the H680 Female, targeting 50% of the world’s population. It comes in a gorgeous design, measuring a diminutive 41mm x 18mm x 12mm while weighing just 12 grams. It connects via Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, ensuring crystal clear conversations at all times. You will be able to pick up the Motorola H680 Female from Korea for approximately $80 - not idea if it is readily available in other parts of the world though.

No free Wi-Fi access for AT&T iPhone users after all

July 20th, 2008 by Edwin in Apple News, Mobile Phones

Man, I’d be pissed if I were an AT&T iPhone user, and I’m pretty sure you would be too, after reading all about your mobile carrier offering free Wi-Fi access to the precious iPhone, only to retract that statement shortly thereafter. I don’t mean to place the importance of having free Wi-Fi access alongside more important things in life, but to have a company offer the hope of such convenience only to pull back its statement a while later can be quite a killjoy. Worse still is the fact that this is not the first time as it has happened before, which pretty much reminds me of Aesop’s Fables and the boy who cried wolf. While any publicity (good or otherwise) is supposed to be good, one such as this leaving no goodwill whatsoever will be viewed with disdain by the majority.

CPC WristBand

July 19th, 2008 by Edwin in Mobile Phones

Talking on your phone while driving without a handsfree kit is a major traffic offence in most countries, and the CPC WristBand is here to solve the problem. This sub-$10 solution comes with a universal case and a wristband that is strapped around your wrist.

Wrap the wristband around the wrist. Insert the flip or candy bar style cell phone into the clear pocket of the CPC WristBand. Now you’re free to communicate hands-free just like Dick Tracy it’s just that simple. The CPC WristBand is the world’s first and only hands-free cellular wristband accessory on the market that allows drivers over the age of 18 talk legally on the cellphone while driving. The Hands-Free cellular Wristband has been approved by Police Departments in the following countries: United States, England, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Israel and Japan.

Unfortunately, the millions of original RAZR owners as well as those who rock to its variants (RAZR V3, RAZR V3c, RAZR V3m, RAZR V3i) won’t be able to make their handset fit into the CPC WristBand universal case. The same goes for many PDA phones as well which are too large. Kinda ironic for a “universal” case if you ask me.

Cryptex phone concept

July 19th, 2008 by Edwin in Conceptual Gadgets, Mobile Phones

Designer Marc Schömann has certainly done well with this new cell phone concept known as the Cryptex phone. It takes long as all get out if you’re trying to dial a number during a frantic moment, so I would reserve this for casual calls and those who love to do things extreeeeemely slow. After all, you will need to turn each individual section to the correct number before the haptic technology provides a confirmation, so imagine performing an international call. That’s a whole lot of sections to turn, and by the time you’re done, your relief is turned into frustration as you’re redirected to the voice mail instead. Good thing it comes with a vibration function though, but that ought to work well only if it has waterproof capability.

Unlocked Slider Phone

July 17th, 2008 by Edwin in Mobile Phones

Don’t ask me about the unconventional naming convention that this phone comes with, but like mom used to say - never judge a book by its cover. In this case, it would be unfair to diss a handset just because it is called an “Unlocked slider phone“. What’s more important are the specifications within, and without much further ado I bring you such information.

  • 900MHz/1800 MHz GSM
  • 2.2″ TFT LCD touch screen display at 320 x 240 resolution
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • VGA camera with video recording function
  • Voice recording capability
  • Compatible with popular audio, video and image formats
  • microSD memory card slot

The unlocked slider phone will retail for $146.88 each, but it gets cheaper if you decide to place a bulk order.

BlackBerry Bold: Extensively Reviewed

July 16th, 2008 by AndrewD in Gadget Reviews, Mobile Phones

I’m a pretty devout iPhone user. My original iPhone has been good to me. The new 2.0 firmware upgrade takes the device to a whole new level of awesomeness. But as awesome as the iPhone is, I couldn’t help but drool a bit when I first glimpsed the BlackBerry Bold. RIM promised a unique mix of form and function and according to the Boy Genius Report, they’ve pretty much delivered.

Boy Genius had a chance to take the Bold on a month long field test (seriously, we’re jealous) and the results are pretty much what most of us expected. It’s exactly what BlackBerry fans have been waiting for. Boy Genius says it best when they refer to the Bold as the “BlackBerry communities iPhone”.

INFINXX AP23 Bluetooth stereo audio transmitter

July 16th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Mobile Phones

The INFINXX AP23 holds the distinction of being the smallest iPhone/iPod Bluetooth A2DP Stereo Audio Transmitter in the world, and until somebody else steps forward to dispute that claim, I’ll take Brando’s word for it. Weighing in at a mere 5 grams, this device allows you to groove to your favorite tunes from the iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod without being bogged down by wires thanks to Bluetooth technology. Of course, that would mean investing in a quality pair of Bluetooth headphones, but that’s not what we’re focusing on today. Freedom from wires for $62 sounds just about right to me.

MobiFrance Concept Phone is an Eiffel

July 16th, 2008 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Coolest Mobile News, Mobile Phones

Ah, the French. I wish the rest of the world wouldn’t reduce them to a meaningless stereotype of good wine, cheese, and love makers. After all, there is another thing the French are becoming better at making: the cellular phone.

MobiFrance has recently partnered up with Sony Ericsson to develop a concept cell called the French Luxury (FL). The FL is designed to commemorate France’s Independence Day by bearing a strong resemblance to the Eiffel Tower, the most recognizable French landmark.

The phone can stand on its end to resemble the Eiffel Tower, and is equipped with a full touchscreen. Unlike other touchscreen phones, the FL’s touchscreen has a somewhat curvaceous look to it.

Other features that we know about are the speakers on its sides, which you can see on this photo. You can also watch video and other multimedia functions. Another feature is the obligatory camera, which is a lot better than other cell phone cameras at 7.2 Megapixels.
