So you think that having the fancy pants (and soon to come) 3G iPhone or HTC Touch Diamond is the ultimate goal in life? Well sorry to burst your bubble mate, but not everyone thinks of a cell phone as a status symbol. Which explains why the middle class and entry level markets teem with handsets that sport but the most basic of functions, and it is definitely a market that does not seem to slow down anytime soon. Hop-On, Inc. is certainly aware of such a huge market and aims to capitalize on the potential volume by releasing its latest GSM cell phone known as the Hop1800. The Hop1800 is readily available throughout the US for a surprisingly low, low price of just $10. Yes sir, for 10 clams you will now be able to pick up a handset that works worldwide, making it the perfect backup cell phone especially for folks who tend to travel a whole lot. Sure, it might not double up as a 3G modem or feature WiFi connectivity, but at least you can be sure it will make and receive calls no matter where you are (subject to signal strength, of course).
Hop-On rolls out $10 phone

How disproportionately long does a phone have to be to lose its “mobile” title? Apparently conceptual phones of the future might push the form factors of phones to the limit.
Or so is the case with Tamer Koseli’s Super Phone, which has an extra long design which both increases screen size and functionality (we never said it did so practically!) In fact, the Super Phone has enough room for two OLED displays on one continuous surface.
Bluetrek Bizz combines headsets and flash drives

When you have amassed a large collection of gadgets that you can’t live without, you begin to figure out ways to cut back on what you need to carry. One way is to weed out the unnecessary gadgets, but you quickly realize that each and every one of them is vital to your everyday life. Your other option is to find convergence devices that serve more than one function. Here’s a Bluetooth headset that packs a little something extra.
Aura Mobile BT from Spracht
May 14th, 2008 by Mark R in Mobile PhonesPerhaps there will come a day when all of our electronic devices, mobile and stationary, will be linked by Bluetooth. Until that day, companies such as Spracht are ready with products like the Aura Mobile BT.
The Aura Mobile BT is a small handheld device that allows a Bluetooth sync with your mobile phone. It was built to take conference calls, and it works right out of the box with no software to install. All a user needs to do is press the sync button, and then prepare his or her mobile phone or other Bluetooth compatible device for pairing.
In addition to Bluetooth Mobile phones, the Aura Mobile BT also works with cordless phones, as well as PC and Macs for VoIP calls. There are some wires required for that particular function, but the setup is just as simple.
Classical Hands Free

Most hands free kits you see these days come in sleek styling that will definitely enhance any work space in a professional manner. What happens if you’re the type who always like to go against conventional wisdom? The Classical Hands Free fits the bill perfectly - this retro-looking device allows you to chat with your friends as though you were talking on a home phone, although I don’t see where the hands free part comes in if it looks like a regular home phone receiver that I can hold up to my ear. Would be pretty awkward to see this lying on the table just like that though. Supported cell phone models include Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, Nokia and Panasonic. The Classical Hands Free will retail for $19.
Hello Kitty cell phone comes with speakers
May 11th, 2008 by Edwin in Mobile Phones
Hello Kitty phones appeal to only a niche market, but strangely enough this niche market is huge to say the least. What we have here is slightly different from other Hello Kitty offerings as it comes with a separate pair of speakers, presumably for you to better enjoy your tunes with friends and family. This GSM 900/1800 handset measures 90mm x 49mm x 15mm and tips the scales at 75 grams, boasting a talk time of up to 150 minutes and up to 5 days of standby time, although I don’t think the latter two figures are indication of real world use. It features a shake function found on selected Sony Ericsson handsets, where a single shake will change MP3 tracks. Other features consist of a 2.2″ 260k color display and a 1.3 megapixel camera. No idea on how much this will cost though.

Verizon Wireless makes Moto Q9c available
May 9th, 2008 by Edwin in Mobile Phones
Verizon Wireless seems to be on a warpath here, having recently released the BlackBerry Curve 8330 earlier this week, only to follow up that move by announcing the availability of the Moto Q9c on its online store as well as all Verizon Wireless business sales channels from today (May 9) onwards. For those who have been lusting after this smartphone, you can pick it up from any Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, including those in Circuit City, within the coming weeks as shipments start to arrive. This smartphone targets business professionals and boasts some pretty powerful capabilities, including access to over 14 million points of interest thanks to Verizon Wireless’ very own popular VZ Navigator service. Other specifications can be found after the jump.
Samsung Glyde
May 8th, 2008 by Mark R in Mobile Phones
After seeing pictures of the Samsung Glyde, I believe that we have seen just about everything that can be done with cell phones. It appears that the new industry standard could be a touchscreen along with a QWERTY keyboard. Obviously some new iPhone-ish type of gadget has to come out in order to really revolutionize the mobile phone market any further.
Until then, there is the Glyde. The Glyde is surfing the present industry standard with its touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard. The Glyde, whose official name is the Samsung SCH-U940, has some other very interesting features. Not only does it have a GPS, but there is a full HTML browser as well as V CAST Muisc and Video.
