Meco Press creates giant Lego blocks made of mud
What you are seeing here is not a Lego block, but a building brick made of mud.
A CEO named Thierry Perrocheau has come up with a method that will allow people in third world countries to build homes and other buildings out of a material that they have a lot of: Mud.
These bricks are made with a Meco Press. With a little bit of binding material and a whole lot of mud, you have a stacking brick. It looks like the brick only comes in one size: 1 x 4 x 4.

Control the volume of your portable device through your jacket zipper with the Zip Jacket
I think that the clothing industry is responding to the needs of the mobile industry. After all, my wife owns at least two or three sweaters that have a pocket for a phone or an MP3 player.
This particular jacket by Jennifer Darmour is the Zip. It is a stylish jacket that a unique ability for the user to control the volume via the zipper.
That’s right, you can zip up the jacket to turn your volume up or down to turn it down. There is a video after the jump if you don’t believe me.

EVD-01 Emergency Disaster Vehicle from Daiwa House
I’ve discovered a way to survive the coming apocalypse with Japanese home builder Daiwa House. They have created the EDV-01 or Emergency Diaster Vehicle that can be ready in four minutes with just a touch a button.
The house has two floors, a restroom, small kitchen, beds, shower, refrigerator, LED lights, as well as a satellite-powered data transfer for use of a cell phone and PC in an emergency. The unit is sized at 6058 x 2591 x 2438 mm and weighs in at 10 tons.
In case you’re wondering what it takes for power, it has solar panels and allows a battery and a fuel cell. It is designed to be easily shippable on the back of a semi, on the back of a freighter, or latched in the bottom of a helicopter.

Check out the Lunchtime Lengthening Clock
You don’t have to work for the “man” long to know how slow the clock moves during worktime, and how fast it goes during lunch.
Fortunately, this Lunchtime clock is designed to speed up twenty percent at 11 AM and then slows down twenty percent at 11:48, which adds 12 precious minutes to lunch.
This will allow for an extra hour worth of lunch for the whole week. Not only that , it will be back in sync in 1:00 PM real time when the 1:12 PM lunchbreak ends.

The 3D Giant Chalk from Crayola
I would like to think that 3D is going to be this force that will sweep the nation, but I have yet to see that.
Of course, I remember my first encounter with 3D as a kid. It was a poster in Dynamite magazine, and I’m pretty certain that puts my age as middle. It was almost thirty years ago, but I will always remember the thrill of discovering the red and blue drawings that seemed to float off of the page.
This is why Crayola wanted to put the 3D experience in a box with 3D Giant Chalk. Somehow, the child is able to draw on the sidewalk, and using special glasses that allows them to view it in 3D.

Thermo Mirror can measure body temperature
I have seen a lot of mirrors that are pretty technologically fancy. I saw one at CES that had a television set on it, but I couldn’t find the information on it later on so I could write a full-length article.
This Thermo Mirror is designed by a Japanese electronics firm NEC/Avio, and it can measure an onlooker’s temperature from up to 30 centimeters or one foot away.
All this without sticking a glass mercury stick underneath your tongue! So when you call in sick to work from your cellular phone, you actually have the evidence that you are indeed “under the weather”. In fact, your boss can even hear the confirmation because the Thermo Mirror will sound an alarm if your temperature is above normal.

This Carry-On Bag can split into three parts
Some of you have had to travel on an airplane with one of those roll-on carry-on bags, and may have had the unfortunate surprise of not having the bag fit in the overhead compartment.
Fortunately, this particular bag from Truco allows the user to make it smaller, by separating it into three individual pieces.
The twenty-inch bag consists of a carry-on suitcase, a laptop bag, as well as a personal valuables bag. All of these three sections can be securely joined together, and then can be easily separated.

Makerbot is one cool toy on display at CES 2011
While I was at CES this year, I saw a booth from MakerBot which was nothing more than six or so of these funny-looking machines here.
This is the Thing-O-Matic, and it is a creation of a Dr. Seuss book come to life. Did the villain in The Lorax have something like this? Hopefully, this MakerBot will have less impact on the environment.
The Thing-O-Matic is “an affordable, open source 3D printer”. It allows the user to make things with ABS, HDPE, or PLA plastic. Its maximum size is about 100 x 100 x 100mm, which I’m told is a size of a cupcake.
