Guitar tuning made easy

November 17th, 2005 by Marc in Miscellaneous Gadgets

There must be a musical vibe in the ether today – this is another instrument related post!

I’m more of a drummer than a guitarist myself – moving all your fingers at the same time always looked way too complicated. I have been on the receiving end of some badly tuned guitars though and it isn’t a pleasent sound.

I’ve also seen people spend hours painfully plucking a string, tweaking the tuning, plucking the string… so this actually looks quite cool.

Plug this tuner into the (electric) guitar, place the head over one of the tuning pegs and pluck. The StringMaster figures out what note the string is actually playing (as opposed to what it’s supposed to be playing) and turns the tuning peg appropriately until the note is correct. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Sex Toys for your iPod

November 16th, 2005 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

iBuzz Sex Toy
I’ve never thought I’d see Apple iPod and sex toys in the same sentence, but that is exactly what the aptly named iBuzz is all about.

I won’t go into too much detail here (as some people read this at work) but it basically interfaces between your iPod, you and your partner (partner is optional). The various attachments then vibrate in time to the music (so you may want to be a bit choosy about what you put on). Can also be used with other MP3 players provided they have a suitable jack socket (oh er) or as a standalone device but wheres the fun in that ;)

High Tech ID Kits

November 12th, 2005 by Anita in Miscellaneous Gadgets

idkit
Our children are or should be treasured angels, but in today’s’ society children are being kidnapped, injured, and even killed by strangers and even members of their families. Every year around 800,000 children are reported missing. When you turn on your television and watch the news, you are sure to see where another child has been abducted or is missing. Some of these children are grabbed going to school or on their home from school, snatched while playing in their safe neighborhoods with their friends, abducted from their own front yards and even sometimes from their own bedrooms.

If your child is ever missing, a recent photo may not be enough to aid law enforcement agencies to the whereabouts of your child. Abductors have a way of changing the looks and identify of your child, by cutting their hair, dying their hair, using a different name to talk with them, and moving completely out of the country.

Water Powered Clock

November 12th, 2005 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Water Powered Clock
Yet again we have another gadgety clock to report on, what’s different about it this time, well the battery is powered by plain old water.

It does seem a pretty inventive (and cheap) way to power a clock (a water refill lasts 2-3 months). If us humans can be powered by the elixir of life, the liquid beer I don’t see why a simple LCD clock can’t be powered by water. Heh maybe filling it with bear would make time travel possible.
