Audiophile,, quick, what’s it sound like?!

by Fred

I am a little dumbfounded.music room

Thanks to the joys of Digg, I came across this.

(awkward pause).

Ummm,,, I’m not quite sure where to begin on how this person has:

A LOT of free time

A LOT of extra money burning horrifying holes in their pocket

Seriously good ears (or at least think they do)

One heck of a collection of music.

I am astounded, jealous, and a little confused.

Wow. Follow the jump and DEFINITELY follow the link.

Extra point for identifying all the components and carbon fiber goodies.

Laser Stars Projector

by Al

Laser Stars Projector I’ve seen astral projectors before but this is the first time I’ve seen one that also projects blue space clouds which look decidedly cool.

The Laser Projector works by using green laser and holographic technology (but how they work I don’t know). To use you simply position the unit in your room and switch on, you can then sit and enjoy a constantly moving and morphing display of blue gaseous clouds and stars (if the blue gets too much for you it can be toned down or switched off).

Laser StarYou can get your own projected universe from Think Geek for $199.99.

Oh Mr. Roboto, I see you there, shakin that,,

by Fred

Biglift robogamesSure, you’ve wanted a suit to make you so strong you could punch through the hulk while looking cooler than the Fonz. Well, it’s closer than you think (not the ‘cool as the Fonz’ thing, the other one, you’re still a geek).

Anyhew,,,

It’s the Exoskeleton Olympics!! It happens every four years, for the first time ever, and it’s,,, riveting!!! Get it,, cause rivets are used to connect parts, and,,, never mind. (second vid ‘warm ups’)
Anyway

Yet another sweet exoskeleton batch has dropped lately. If you are like me, and desire to see weaklings leg press a small house with nothing but wires, steel, their brains, and a small amount of muscle power, then you are in for a treat!

Wires?! We don’t need no stinking Wires!!! (thanks to Bluetooth)

by Fred

The folks at Jabra are being nice to us. They’re trying to make our lives easier.

Fools!!

No, wait,, that’s exactly what we want!

We want gadgets that make our gadgets work better. They’ve really got some now, with more on the way. It’s a pair of headphones that work with your phone.
Buy them here for $89.99

The obviously sweet bit about these headphones (yes, the look is standardized iPod white) is that they receive bluetooth inputs from your bluetooth enabled phone.

Better than that (those those are out there and available now). Is this new unit recently announced that is entirely wireless! (well except for the cord connecting the two earpieces).

So maybe not cordless, how about Cord.

Their new Jabra BT8010 is just what the doctor ordered, read on for more naughty goodness and sweet pics.

Weird Underwear

by Dan

underease.jpgThere is a strange list over the American Inventors Spot site covering “Underwear that is funny to wear”. I don’t think I would have fun wearing that stuff, but some of the items on that list made me crack up laughing, check it out!

Sac Free Underwear: check out the manufacturers description: “A new dimension of comfort and liberty for your balls. In former times there were boxer shorts or slips. Today there is sacfree®, the first boxerslip of the world…Sacfree® will bring a pleasant feeling of liberty”. Is this priceless or what?

Flatulence Filtering Underwear: man I know some people who could definitely use that stuff. Those boxers have a very innovative filter on the back, and all the flatulence is forced to pass through it since the boxers are air-tight. By the way the heavy users out there do not need to worry about the filter getting clogged after a couple of months, it is replaceable! Continue reading » Weird Underwear

Today’s mild Apple TV, brouhaha, brought to you by it’s competitors.

by Fred

So the Apple TV, the other thing released the same day as the iPhone (you, uhhh, may have been distracted at the time, but good old Stevie J did mention it first!) I even blogged it live (not that you were reading it).

So let’s face it, we all have, and, or want:

PVR (tivo, you know digital recording and playback of TV (in HD hopefully)

To view and listen to anything we have in our iTunes or video player

To watch TV (is that too hard?)

Wireless computer to TV connection

Using your TV and computer simultaneously

Your photos on tv with music (at least you can finally watch pictures of someone else’s kids and do it happily along with anything by Ozzie Osbourne!)

I should note in advance, the delightful humans at PVRwire really helped here, read on for all the fun competitors to the Apple TV that can save you a buck or two hundred.

Iron those disks!

by Dan

skipaway.jpgVen Mill industries just launched a new product called Skip-Away, it is basically a disk repairing device, but instead of using wax filling or abrasive sanding to carry out the repair this device is supposed to use a new technology called OptoClear.

“Sanding machines attempt to sand down the peaks, while wax solutions aim to fill in the valleys. OptoClear does neither. OptoClear works like ironing a shirt—it applies the right combination of heat, pressure and time to iron out the peaks and valleys on the disc, better known as scratches. Once a disc is inserted, the protective plastic layer is exposed to heat, making the surface malleable. Simultaneously, the right amount of pressure is applied to smooth out the surface, turning the skipping mountain range back into a playable plane.”

Now for those of you wondering the performance of the product, the manufacturer claims that it can clean discs in 10 seconds and repair them in 3 minutes, and there is a warranty up to 10000 cleanings and 2000 repairs. Continue reading » Iron those disks!

Hyperdrive photo wallet

by Marc

2007_01_11hyperdrive.jpg
“Photo wallets” are nothing new – devices to back up your memory card to a hard drive have become common in the past few years. The Sanho Hyperdrive is one such device and while it may not be the newest product concept there’s still room for a well implemented one.

The Hyperdrive has a rechargable Li-Ion battery, takes a whole list of card formats that I’m not going to bother retyping (most of them), shows up as a PC hard drive via USB and has the usual “press one button to dump the card” function.

Things I like:

  • It doesn’t try to be a photo viewer, video player or TV adapter
  • It is available as an empty chassis for you to put your own hard drive
  • It verifies the data has copied correctly before wiping your card
  • it’s fast

The bare chassis is $149, the 160gb version is $399 and you can get them from www.hypershop.com
