Laser Target Alarm Clock

May 7th, 2008 by Mark R in Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Laser Target Alarm Clock

I believe that I have previously reported on alarm clocks that require some odd turnoff method before they shut off. For example, the Throw Alarm Clock requires you to bounce or throw it in order to shut it off.

This Laser Target Alarm Clock allows you to shoot it. That’s right, when the alarm goes off, the user readies the laser, aims, and fires.

I believe that the purpose of this clock is to give the user some great satisfaction as they shoot that most hated appliance. “Yes, by pulling out a gun on the Laser Target Alarm Clock, you can scare the daylight out of something that usually scares the daylight into you.”

All right, that isn’t a direct quote from the site, but the site does emphasize that it “fires up the brain to control and concentrate on the very exact hand-eye co-ordination required to aim your laser beam remote at the exact centre of the target”. In other words, by the time you pick up your knock-off Star Trek: The Next Generation phaser and shoot the target, your brain is definitely awake. No hitting the snooze bar here.

Marine Catcher Matches Claw for Claw

May 7th, 2008 by Mark R in Gaming Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Marine Catcher Matches Claw for Claw

This is one of those coolest gadgets that just screams of irony. Yes, what you see in the photo is true: the Marine Catcher is one of those claw games that lets you catch a pair of claws. The water on the bottom isn’t there for a challenge, but to protect the prize: a lobster.

As far as I know, this Marine Catcher can only be found in Osaka, Japan’s Namba district. I’m not certain how much yen a player has to insert for this crustacean gamble.

In case you are wondering, the machine has a plastic bag in case you actually catch one of these lobsters. That’s good, because I wouldn’t want one of these lobsters squirming around in my backpack.

TrekDesk All-In-One Treadmill, Calorie Burner, and Office Space

May 6th, 2008 by AndrewD in Office Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

trek1lg.jpg

Only 10% of adults have a consistent work-out plan. When you’re stuck behind your desk all day while you work, a lot of the time you lose track of your health. Your physique becomes flabby, your mentality becomes listless, and you pretty much evolve into a completely out of shape slab of skin. It can be hell on your self-confidence.

The TrekDesk offers an all-in-one solution for the home worker. It keeps you moving and your heart a-pumpin’ as you tap away at your keyboard answering e-mails. All you have to do is attach the easily assembled 70 x 38 desk onto any standard treadmill. It’s universal design ensures that your existing treadmill is compatible with the TrekDesk.

StairSteady Handrail helps the elderly up and down

May 6th, 2008 by Chris in Medical Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

StairSteady

I’m fortunate to be a fairly healthy guy, and feel bad for those that have difficulty getting around. While I could imagine that someone that relies on a wheelchair or cane would have a hard time just about anywhere, I would bet that the stairs are the worst. Now if those stairs are in their home, that would be even worse. Thankfully this cool device can help out those that have difficulty getting up and down stairs.

This StairSteady Handrail was actually a GCSE coursework project that was later turned into a full-fledged product. Essentially what you have is a horizontal bar which runs along the handrail. This allows a person to evenly distribute their weight between both hands, rather than just relying on one. There’s no word on when the StairSteady will go on sale, but the installation kit will run you somewhere around $650 and should work with most stairs.

verb-for-shoe.jpgVectraSense Technologies, Inc. has rolled out “The Smart Shoe Experience” recently, boasting its revolutionary computerized footwear for the masses. Smart Shoe Experience, eh? Well, this won’t be solving any of your mathematical problems anytime soon, but we do know that The Experience includes a collection of internet attractions featuring cutting-edge smart shoe technology within broader fashion and style contexts. Breitling creates a truly waterproof watch

May 2nd, 2008 by Chris in Electronic Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Seawolf Chrono

When I was a kid I loved watches. For years I wanted one that was both waterproof and had a button which would light up the face. I found out later that there weren’t actually all that many situations where a waterproof watch came in handy for me, but it was still cool nonetheless. What I didn’t understand back then is that the watches weren’t really waterproof, because if you attempted to engage the chronograph, water would seep in. If you’re one that is concerned about such an issue, you’ll be happy to hear that watchmaker Breitling has solved this issue.
