Get Fit Watching TV

January 9th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

The Entertrainer
This one is not so new but it’s the first time I’ve heard of it (from CES coverage of course). Okay the title is a little bit misleading as you do have to excerise as well, but the way the EnterTrainer works is pretty cool (and annoying).

Reversing made Easy with a VideoMirror

January 8th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Reversing Mirror
When it comes to parking the car I’m certainly not top of the tree ability wise, which is one of the reasons I was pleasantly impressed when I saw the VideoMirror.

The VideoMirror is basically a LCD screen that is hidden inside a conventional (but slightly thicker) rear view mirror. The magic happens when you put the car into reverse and the LCD displays slides out showing you (via a camera at the back) exactly what is happening behind you. This little device could certainly help avoid a few scrapes and scratches to your motor.

Room Defender

January 8th, 2006 by Anita in Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Spy Stuff, Toys, Wacky Gadgets

roomdefender
You probably have tried everything in your power to keep your parents out of your room or maybe your spouse out of your closet and nothing seems to be working. You have asked nicely, placed signs on your door, and maybe even yelled quite a bit about having your own privacy. However, when you are not around, they seem to still go in and search through your stuff. Well, not any more!

With the Room Defender to protect your room or closet or even your office you will be able to keep a few more things private. The Room Defender is mounted on three gun-turrets like legs and will protect your stuff from spies.

The way that it works is that the Room Defender has a motion sensor alarm, when someone enters an area that you do not want them in, it will first give a verbal warning and then fire a shot at them in the form of a foam disc.

UberOrbs

January 8th, 2006 by Anita in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

UberOrbs
These little gadgets will keep you busy for hours. You will not have any more boring times while you are just sitting around with nothing to do if you have these guys sitting on your desk.

Many people sit around and doodle on paper while they are talking on the telephone or even while watching television. The reason is they need something else to keep their mind busy. Yes, many people can do more than one thing at a time and these UberOrbs will help keep their mind active and busy.

UberOrbs are magnetic stones that are made from hematite which are more than mere magnets. These magnets are great for compulsive people or someone that just enjoys fiddling. If you pull them apart, they make a “zoing” sound when they quickly join back together. You can throw them into the air and they will zing back together again. You can even hold one in your hand and spin the other one around in all kinds of patterns on your table or desk.

Felt Puzzle Mat

January 7th, 2006 by Anita in Miscellaneous Gadgets

puzzlemat
How many times have you started putting together a very large 1000 word puzzle and then ran out of time and had to take it back apart to do something else? This can be very frustrating. However, there is good news for all people that love to work on puzzles when they have the time without their work being destroyed each and every time. The answer is the Felt Puzzle Mat.

When you are ready to start putting together that masterpiece, just roll out the high quality heavy felt mat on a flat surface and begin. The puzzle mat is 24 inches by 24 inches, so there is plenty of room for the entire family to join in the fun. Now you can lay out each and every piece of the puzzle and have them close by instead of them still being in the puzzle box. Trying to search through the puzzle to find the piece you need is no fun, but you are always afraid to just pour out the pieces, they could get lost and then your puzzle would never be finished. However, with the felt puzzle mat you can keep all the puzzle pieces on the mat and not worry about losing them or searching through the puzzle box.

Wi-Fi Gmail / Flickr Enabled Picture Frame

January 6th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

eStarling Picture Frame
We’ve reported on digital picture frames once or twice or maybe even 3 times in the past and you’d think that was enough but oh no, I’ve just seen another one I’ve got to write about.

It’s called the eStarling and has built in Wifi so there’s no need to start tunnelling CAT5 round the fireplace (unfortunately it still needs an external power supply so it’s not totally cable free).

What I especially liked about this LCD picture frame is that you can set it up to pull pictures down from an RSS photo feed on Flickr based on your own tagged keywords. Another really cool feature is the ability to email photos directly to the frame. So next time your on holiday leave the frame in the office (turned on of course) and then whilst you’re lounging by the pool take a few pics of the more pleasant eye candy on your mobile and email it to the picture frame in the office. Hey presto your colleague are even more annoyed that your on holiday, what better way to make that holiday feel even more special :).

Available for about $250 from ThinkGeek.

January 6th, 2006 by Anita in Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

messageplayer

How would you like to plan a diet and really be able to stick to it this time? This motion sensing message player may help you do the trick if you listen to your own words.

You can attach the motion sensing message player on the refrigerator door and every time you move in front of it, you will hear your own message. You can record such motivating words like “I want that new bikini”, “I will lose 10 pounds”, or comical ones such as “Hello, fatty.” The choice is yours.

Not only is this a great gadget for people on a diet, but it can be used for all kinds of cool reasons. You can record important messages, scare the kids into staying out of your personal papers, or even as a security device. You can use the motion sensing message player to play either the message or just light up as someone moves in front of the unit.
