Electrocuting Rats with the Rat Zapper

April 13th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Rat TrapThis is the gadget way of solving rat problems, the Rat Zapper and it’s probably one of the more humane ways of killing a rat (that is if you can call killing something humane).

The Rat Zapper works by enticing a pesky rodent into the electrocution chamber where once detected it is zapped, with no blood and guts to be seen. From a technology point of view what impresses me with this product is that it is able to electrocute 10 rodents using just 4 “AA” Batteries, I wouldn’t of thought they had that much power.

It’s here at last – smellovision.

April 12th, 2006 by Paz in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Retro Gadgets

Smellovision gadget.

This was an idea I heard about some time ago, but now it’s here – a gadget that releases an appropriate smell during critical parts of a film.

I asked my better half which movie would she like to enjoy with the extra dimension of smell. She thought for a moment, and somewhat enigmatically said; “Casablanca”….

Digital Music Scores

April 11th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Digital Music StandHaving to turn the pages of a musical manifest may become a thing of the past thanks to the MusicPad Pro Plus.

The MusicPad is a digital music sheet which displays musical scores via it’s TFT screen and instead of having to leave go of your instrument and turn the pages by hand you can simply tap your fut (on a pedal). If they wanted to bring it really up to date I think they should make scroll slowly in depending on the tempo of the music or detect when a particular point has been reached and flip the page automatically (though with my playing automatic detection would be impossible).

So if you’ve already got a digital trumpet this could be the perfect companion for it (musical skill and ability not included).

Fake, soiled underpants for home security.

April 10th, 2006 by Paz in Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Fake soiled underpants for home security.

We knew that this was a “security device” that had to appear as a coolest gadgets feature, the only problem was; what should we write? We thought; “Words fail us; the photo says it all!” might do the job, but being the professionals that we are, we’ve dug deep and written a few comments to paint a picture in your mind:

The USB Bra

April 10th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

USB Bra
German artists Dialog05 have put together a range of conceptual USB devices. These are pieces of “art” rather than actual working USB gadgets but pretty cool none the less.

My favourite has got to be the USB Bra, with the phrase “Unplug and play” being aptly appropriate :). They also have a few ideas which could work and be marketable in the “real” world, like the USB watch and USB padlock (a means of securing your data).

USB Belt
You can see and laugh at the full collection on the Dialog05 site (found via Digg).

Cheap $100 for 300GB Seagate Hard Disk Drive - Is that Cool?

April 7th, 2006 by Keith in Miscellaneous Gadgets, PC Gadgets

Seagate

Well, I will say no more, a price of $100 bring you 300GB storage capacity. Reviews from several buyers have claimed that the drive is pretty quiet and so far has not much problems or issues arising from Seagate hard disk drives.

Well, is this cool gadget? Some may not think so, but I think, if the price is “cool“, it is still a cool gadget! Grab your stock here, whilst stock last.
