Skin ya Roomba

April 22nd, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

iRobot
If you’re the proud owner of one of those friendly robotic cleaners the Roomba or Scooba and are getting a bit bored of the look of them; instead of reverting back to conventional cleaning which you do your self (as if) you can now skin it. So the idea of skinning has now moved from software applications to domestic robotic cleaners (as I’m sure everybody expected).

The Coolest Boarding Board Ever!

April 21st, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

The Scarpar
There are not many things that make me drool (excluding pizza) but the Scarpar board did just that. The Scarpar is the first multi terrain motorised board. Unlike snow and wake boards you can use it anywhere so will be ideal when you don’t have the time or weather to enjoy your regular boarding.

You may be able to tell from the picture that the Scarpar uses mini caterpillar tracks instead of wheels, this gives it the ability to travel on grass, mud, snow anything bar water really. To really appreciate what it can do you need to watch the video of it in action.

Humminbird Smartcast RF15 Fish Finder

April 19th, 2006 by Lexia in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Sport, Wacky Gadgets

RF15 Sonar Fish FinderThis has to be one of the coolest gadgets around! I’m not one to go fishing, but I may pick it up just so I can use this cool sonar device. The Humminbird Smartcast RF15 Fish Finder detects the presence of fish to an amazing depth of 100 feet.

The little fishies can’t escape as the RF15 gives a real-time visual on subterranean landscape and what depth they (the fish) are at.

The Backwards Clock

April 19th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Backwards Clock

When I first saw this clock it looked like a normal clock but something just wasn’t right. It’s a bit like when you see somebody who has had their eyebrows shaved off when getting drunk with the wrong mates, something ain’t right but it takes a while to put your finger on it.

The backwards clock is exactly what the name suggests (which probably gave the game away), a clock that ticks anti-clockwise. Very strange.

Make Your Own Gizmos

April 19th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Make Youw Own GizmosWith regards to gadgets there’s only 2 things better than buying your own

  1. Being given a gadget
  2. Making your own gizmo

The book Gonzo Gizmos is all about the latter with projects like

  • A rotary steam engine from a candle, a soda can, a length of copper tubing
  • A hot dog roaster that only needs just a flexible plastic mirror, a wooden box, a sunny day, and algebra
  • Levitating magnets

It kind of reminds me of the program Brainiacs. Available from Think Geek.
