The Cupertino rumor mill is a buzz again. Like a voice crying in the wilderness, and fresh off the heels of a Steve Jobs promise that more interesting products are coming in the fall, The Giz is reporting a rumor that the long speculated MacBook Tablet will be shipping this October.

Parrot MK6100 Bluetooth Hands Free Kit

July 22nd, 2008 by Mark R in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Sure, we have covered Parrot products before, with their MINIKIT, NFC, and Digital Frame products, and so it stands to reason they would make Bluetooth Hands-Free kits. One of their latest products is the MK6100, which allows for easy, hands-free Bluetooth compatibility.

Considering the new laws that have been passed in certain countries that require hands-free wireless devices for communication in automobiles, the MK6100 comes at an opportune time. One of its main features is that it allows users to establish a phone conversation in a vehicle without the use of a phone. The pairing has been made very simple, and all it requires is hitting the green button, and the call is picked up.

Wine in pop-top cans: A sign of the times

July 21st, 2008 by Mark R in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Every once in a while, some new idea comes along that is very practical, but probably won’t be implemented because “it has always been done this way”.

For example, the idea of wine in pop-top cans. I’m sure a lot of wine connoisseurs are probably saying: “Wine in pop-top cans? Zut alors! Cans are for beer! Fine wine shall not be drank like le Budweiser!”

Two Swedish designers named Jens Andersson and Jonas Forsman have created a special kind of can designed for wine-drinking. As you can see, they are definitely classier looking than traditional 12 ounce cans, especially when it comes to the shape and the pop-top. In case you are wondering, they are recyclable.

Batman’s Batpod rocked The Dark Knight

July 21st, 2008 by Mark R in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Spy Stuff, Toys, Vehicle Gadgets

Last summer, we reported that Spider-man 3 broke the record for the most successful opening weekend. I’ve just heard that this record has been broken by The Dark Knight, which is on the verge of becoming the best superhero movie ever.

I’m sure a lot of you saw it over the weekend. Some of you might have been greatly impressed by the Batpod, director Christopher Nolan’s take on the classic bat-cycle, without the sidecar for Robin. The Batpod was designed by Nathan Crowley, the same man who designed the Tumbler from the Batman Begins.

Stuck Up: Magnets disguised as chewed gum

July 19th, 2008 by AndrewD in Miscellaneous Gadgets

The Stuck Up magnets are chewed gum replicas which you don’t have to worry about fingering by accident. If your hand brushes up against one of these ABC (already been chewed) wads of gum, there’s no need to compulsively wash your hands (as long as you don’t have some OCD disorder).

Chewed gum is the foundation of every public school. Look under any desk in a public area and you’re sure to see an assortment of flavors and brands plastered onto each surface. It’s really gross when you realize you’ve accidentally rubbed up against some stranger’s deposited chewing gum. But the sticking powers of dry gum are incredible. In fact, I sometimes wondered whether schools rely on this incredible adhesive to remain standing for so long.
