Life in our corporate cubicle world could stand a little speeding up and with these RaceCar chairs, it may very well be. The idea is to take a standard office chair and make it more stylish and comfortable by placing actual sports car seats on top, replacing the dull and uncomfortable swivel chairs in your average cubicle. But they’re not cheap.
Race Chairs make office work speedy, but expensive
July 29th, 2008 by James in Miscellaneous GadgetsJust for the Smell of it: Scent-Emitting LCD Displays
July 28th, 2008 by Mark R in Miscellaneous Gadgets
Every time I go to a city by a bay, like San Francisco or Seattle, I am completely saturated by an array of scents. They wash over me like multiple waves from the high-priced restaurants with views of the water, and I am compelled to shell out my money for expensive food.
A Japanese company known as Recruit Co Ltd. has found a way to follow their nose to make people some money by using special displays. These unique advertising devices, developed by NTT Communications Corporation, have a 42-inch LCD display that not only show food, but emit mouth-watering aromas.
Lego Sports City recreates Beijing Olympics
July 26th, 2008 by AndrewD in Miscellaneous Gadgets
The Beijing Olympic Games are rapidly approaching. One day in the near future the Olympic Torch will be lit, and some of the finest athletes in the world will compete for their countries. Sadly, there’s no Olympic category for “speed computer assembly” or “fastest software coding”. Us geeks are typically left in the dark when it comes to athletic prowess, other than that one year we were on the track team in high school.
But never underestimate the mind of a geek. Just because we don’t have the proper coordination or balance for athletic competition doesn’t mean our involvement in the Olympics is ruled out. I mean, for one, you’ve got to imagine the judges are major nerds. If you need more proof about geek involvement, just check out this amazing Lego structure called Sports City, a total recreation of some of the venues which we’ll see in Beijing.

Armpit TV for mass-transit? Optimal for deodorant sales!
July 24th, 2008 by AndrewD in Miscellaneous Gadgets
Here’s a new word that might be invading your vernacular in the near future if you happen to be a frequent mass-transit commuter. Pitvertising. That’s right. Ads directly from the deep caverns of your fellow passengers’ armpits.
It might sound sort of creepy and unpractical, but think of the most common sight on a crowded subway car. Tons and tons of sweaty armpits, attached to those very same fellow passengers who are reaching for the handy support hanger. And what better way is there to utilize such a medium than by advertising, oops, we mean “pitvertising” a brand of deodorant?

George Lucas frozen in carbonite
July 23rd, 2008 by Edwin in Miscellaneous Gadgets
We’ve seen Han Solo in suspended animation indefinitely no thanks to his carbonite prison, but surely there are more deserving people of such punishment? What about Mr. George Lucas himself, for unleashing the abomination known as Jar-Jar Binks upon the galaxy, and torturing us through three prequels that are nothing but a special effects extravaganza without really fleshing out the characters’ pasts? Well if you have always wished that, that particular wish has come true today. This carbonite George Lucas was specially sculpted for Star Wars celebrations that are being held in Japan at the moment. No idea on how much it will cost though, nor where can you get one.
