The KISS Plasma Light Sculpted Head is a bit terrifying

June 23rd, 2008 by Ally in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Gene Simmons always manages to crack me up, if he can find a way, he will slap his name on anything. Frankly, if he can sell KISS cologne then he can sell anything, even this bizarre looking light. I had no idea how bad he was about it until I managed to catch an interview on TV where he brought up his obsession with marketing anything and everything KISS. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if he managed to sell KISS themed toilet paper. Frankly, KISS fans are eager enough that he definitely has the perfect audience to pitch his weird products to.

Electroluminescent Suits Keep Things Glowing

June 23rd, 2008 by Mark R in Miscellaneous Gadgets

I don’t know about you, but I look at this picture to the left and can’t help but think of the 1982 geek film Tron. I am guessing that a lot of the non-geeks are probably thinking that these are the electroluminescent (EL) suits worn by Daft Punk at the Grammys when they performed with Kanye West.

Even though I can’t think of an occasion to wear it, I can’t help but wonder where you get an outfit like this. As it turns out, it doesn’t look like these suits are available on the market any time soon by any fashion designer that I know.

However, there is an in-depth tutorial available on a site known as Instructables that tells the ordinary person how to assemble one of these electroluminescent suits. This site also has the instructions for making many other technological things.

Jetsleeper Turns Economy Class Seating Into Sleepy Land

June 20th, 2008 by AndrewD in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Forget about it. If I’m on a plane these days, there is just no method for allowing my brain to relax enough to sleep. And not for the reasons you think. Security fears are one thing, but economy class seating is clearly not getting any more comfortable. Even with a airport mandated pillow, our heads just feel a little too far projected in front of our bodies to take a nap.

This helpful gadget might be able to help people like me, who are used to sleeping in a comfortable bed rather than a stiff, awkwardly padded airplane seating scheme. The Jetsleeper is a gadget specifically designed to help flight passengers get some shut eye before they reach their destination. For traveling through timezones, getting enough sleep could spell the difference between being alert and being totally jet lagged.

miBook Digital Instruction Booklet

June 20th, 2008 by Mark R in Coolest Mobile News, Digital Picture Frame, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Every once in a while, you need more help than just a step-by-step instruction booklet. No, you need to have something that literally shows you how to do something with video footage.

This why people need something like the miBook. There really isn’t anything new about the design of this product, it is a simple PDA with a seven inch touchscreen.

What is unique about the miBook is the way it is being marketed. A recent Circuit City ad showed the MiBook as a kit that includes Two Food Network Cooking Titles. I believe the MiBook is designed to be some type of digital instruction booklet with helpful video footage.

Sony HDR-CX12 Handycam

June 20th, 2008 by Edwin in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Sony wants to grab top spot in the camcorder industry by releasing the first high definition camcorder that comes with both Smile Shutter and face detection technologies. This new camcorder, known as the HDR-CX12, is able to record video in full High Definition (1,920 x 1,080 resolution) while capturing picture perfect 10 megapixel photos as long as there is still space to spare on the Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo/Memory Stick PRO Duo Mark2 inside. The HDR-CX12 is also impossibly small, sharing the rough measurements as that of a soda can (2.8″ x 5.3″ x 2.8″), making it a snap to carry around whenever you head off for the next destination.

Cops can finally track, rather than chase bad guys

June 18th, 2008 by James in Automotive Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Spy Stuff, Vehicle Gadgets

We’ve all been mesmerized by the local news coverage of some bad guy fleeing police in a high speed chase. And like watching car racing and hockey, we just wait for the inevitable crash that will end the pursuit. And soon enough, it comes and the foolish perp is taken away in cuffs while his car is a smoldering mass of twisted metal. But lately, police are catching all kinds of flack for pursuing these car chases at the endangerment of the local populace. Some have even taken to letting the guy go, rather than risk a crash and human lives which result in the inevitable bevy of lawsuits. But now, they can track the bad guy, rather than chase him, with a new projectile GPS transceiver which will allow the helicopter and units monitoring to simply hang back and wait for the perp to get where he’s going.
