Robotic bed transforms into a wheelchair
One of the problems of being paralyzed is the transition from bed to the wheelchair. Sure, this is something that anyone who walks takes for granted, but I’m sure Professor X probably feels pretty helpless every morning.
Okay, I’m starting to slowly drift into the slippery slope of cripple joke territory, and that is just sick. It is a lot better to help out those who cannot walk, like this new device from Panasonic.
As you can see from the picture here, the robotic bed can raise the back, and then a part of the bed comes out to be the wheeled portion. Somehow, these two parts come together to make a wheel chair that is easily accessible for those with limited mobility.

Bloodbot combines your worst vampire and robot fears
There are a lot of people who faint at the sight of a needle, as well as those that swoon at the sight of blood.
Wouldn’t it be great if there was some machine like this Bloodbot that could draw your blood, without a human ever being present?
Some of you might faint at the very idea of that, but haven’t you ever had a doctor who had a hard time finding the vein while you were donating blood? Apparently, this bloodbot has an accuracy rate of seventy-eight percent. Normally, I would say that is good, but I would like to see the average accuracy rate for a doctor.

ValueRays offer warm collection of gizmos

ValueRays isn’t the first company in the world to have the best interest of your hands at heart, although they do offer something unorthodox for those who are chained to their cubicles all day long. The produces on offer include a Warm Mouse, Warm Keyboard, USB Infrared Heaters, Hand Warmers and a Heated Mouse for Mouse Hand Pain.
Our USB hand warmers are infrared heaters and provide “infrared heat” therapy for computer users with hand pain and cold hands. ValueRays USB infrared heated warm mouse, heated mousepad, heated keyboard pad and Mouse Hand Warmer provide deep healing infrared heat for the cold mouse hand and cold keyboard hands. ValueRays USB Hand Warmers provide a healthy way to use the computer! Make the computer work for you, not harm you! Reduce stress. Improve circulation. Keep warm!
The use of infrared heat apparently penetrates deep through the skin’s layers to the muscle tissue, helping relieve tension and stress while improving overall blood circulation as well. This further heals and reduces the risk of computer-related hand injuries such as RSI, CTD and CTS. We wonder whether you can work this into your office budget for next year. Anyone used something like this before, and what are the results?
RIBA robot nurse
With the advancements made in robotics and technology these days, we wouldn’t be too surprised to see that robots might end up as our caregivers one of these days, and the RIBA robot nurse is definitely a step in the right direction. Patients who wake up from a nasty accident to see RIBA tending to them might get a shock, thinking that they are in another parallel universe at first – after all, ugly nurses are one thing, but a robotic bear nurse? That’s totally whacked out! RIBA stands for “Robot for Interactive Body Assistance” and was developed by researchers at Japan’s Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) and Tokai Rubber Industries, Ltd. (TRI). It’s main purpose would be to assist nurses by lifting patients in and out of their beds and wheelchairs, alongside providing assistance on and off the toilet. The 180 kg robot bear can handle weight of up to 61 kgs, and was designed after a bear to put patients at ease instead of a more human-looking model.

Specialized Glasses let you write with your eyes
I once heard a story about a bedridden artist that couldn’t stand and paint, so he took a paintbrush, put it on a long stick, and preceded to paint on the ceiling.
It would appear that LA graffiti artist Tony Quan has also undergone some sickness and is unable to perform his talents. In 2003, Quan was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), but his friends have helped him out.
As you can see from the crude diagram, the eyewriter glasses are connected to the CPU of a laptop. All the artist has to do is move his eyes, and the dual projectors create an image like a Paint program.

The Littmann 3200 Bluetooth Stethoscope

I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a stethoscope that was any different than the same type doctors have been carrying around for generations. They stay pretty simple, but this one gives doctors the opportunity to get an upgrade. While doctors are updating their systems to make them more gadget friendly, this could be a great addition. After all, doctors should get to play with fun gadgets too. This Littmann 3200 Bluetooth Stethoscope created by both 3M and Zargis Medical would be a great way to update the classic doctor’s instruments.

Panasonic Toughbook H1 obtains Gobi Certification
The Verizon Wireless network will be offering a new notebook for the masses that is much tougher than your average model, and we suspect even able to withstand environments where the normal nerd would faint by then. We’re talking about the Panasonic Toughbook H1 mobile clinical assistant (MCA) that has recently received Gobi certification for use on the Verizon Wireless network. Due to its relatively tiny form factor, extremely light chassis and a reasonable bunch of built-in specifications and features, the Toughbook H1 ends up being a rather attractive solution for those who are knee deep in mobile healthcare environments such as EMS, mobile blood banks and home health workers. Not only that, healthcare professionals who tend to do plenty of traveling between offices, patient homes and hospitals will realize just what a handy tool the Verizon Wireless’ Mobile Broadband is when used in conjunction with the Toughbook H1, allowing one to reduce down time while increasing overall productivity despite being physically removed from traditional healthcare facilities.

Electronic Breast Enhancer is the new Bust Must
I usually don’t cover products like the Electric Bust Enhancer, but I or someone else has covered all the other coolest gadgets for this Friday.
What you are seeing there are two devices that a lady sticks in her bra cup, and then it massages. Apparently, this soft vibration keeps breasts healthy, and protects “against age and gravity”. According to the Uxsight web site, a lot of women have seen the results quite quickly, and is “enjoyable for the women”.
Ye-e-a-ah. I’m not certain I should be covering this, but who am I to crown myself the king of prudes? Anyway, each of those cups is battery powered with an AG13 cell, and there doesn’t seem to be a warning about wearing these too much.
