Epson back with new Ensemble HD Home Cinema System

Epson’s got a soft spot for home theater systems, and they have just come up with yet another option for those who are thinking about getting one for their respective homes. The Ensemble HD Home Cinema System is now available to the masses, featuring a selection of projectors for you to choose from in order to fit into most budgets. A couple of the projectors in question are the PowerLite Home Cinema 6100 and Home Cinema 6500 UB. We suppose that once you have the Epson Ensemble HD Home Cinema System installed in your pad, you will find very little excuse to go out once you’ve returned home from work. After all, you might as well take advantage of all the technology on offer before it gets obsolete, right?

BeoSound 3 looks great in virtually any home

Behold, the latest home accessory that will wow anyone who drops by your place. The functions packed inside isn’t new by any means, consisting of a portable radio, clock and digital audio player, but it is the overall package which it comes in that impresses the most, thanks to the efforts of David Lewis on the BeoSound 3. This full-range loudspeaker unit might be compact in size, but it does offer some tubthumping performance. A rechargeable battery powers the BeoSound 3 to add to its portability, so you won’t need to keep it tied down by a power cable all the time. Other features include a wake-up timer, SD/MMC-card playback (MP3, WMA), and the all-important sleep timer. There is no word on pricing as at press time, but we don’t expect it to come cheap.

HiRes Wallpaper goes where no bedroom has gone before
Imagine living on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. The original bridge and not the one that looks like an Apple Store or the one that looks like a barcalounger. But the real bridge. Where the real Kirk, Spock and McCoy took on Klingons, Romulans, and the Doomsday Machine to save the Federation. It’s the fantasy of every kid born in the early 60s. And now wallpaper that turns your room into that bridge is available for a pretty good price. All it needs is the cool Captain’s chair. Oh, you can get that, too.

Stuff-Your-Stuff Theater Set hides projector screen

I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to pick up a projector and ditch the flat panel TV. I have my reasons for not making the switch though, one being that it’s a hefty investment that I’m not willing to make at this particular point. One major perk, despite the price, is a projector can easily take up less space and look better. If it weren’t for the giant roll on the wall, when the screen is put away, there is really nothing that has to be left out at all times. That means that all technology can easily be hidden away, well with this shelf even the screen can stay concealed.

Panasonic unveils Blu-ray Home Theater Systems

Panasonic is back with a couple of brand new 7.1 channel Blu-ray Home Theater systems, and these come complete with wireless-ready rear speakers and an integrated iPod dock (as any other decent home theater system should these days), allowing maximum enjoyment for downloaded video and audio content. The two models in question are the SC-BT200 and SC-BT300, where they will feature seven speakers to envelop viewers in a remarkably true-to-life surround sound experience. We’re pretty sure that not only movie buffs will find this set to be highly entertaining, but gamers as well – especially for those whose computers come with a multi-channel sound card – too bad game programmers rarely go more than 5.1 in their audio programming.

Panasonic has DivX-certified HDTVs now
Panasonic has announced that it will offer a new line of DivX Certified HDTVs from Panasonic that are available in Europe (why not in other parts of the world?), and they will consist of the Panasonic VIERA Z1, V10 and G15 series that boast cutting-edge 1080p full-HD flat panels to enable consumers to easily playback high-quality DivX video straight onto the television. I guess there is much more reason to get those terabyte-class external hard drives and storage solutions now, while keeping your computer on all night long to download full HD movies (just make sure these are legit copies and not bootlegs – we don’t condone piracy here at Coolest Gadgets) in DivX format for viewing later in the living room.

Congress votes to delay digital TV transition
Listening to the sage words of the wise one, Congress has stepped up and voted heed the Obama Administration’s council and delayed the proposed digital TV transition. Originally scheduled for next week, the digital TV transition in the United States would shut off most analog broadcast signals (except those from stations that are so small they can’t afford to make the switchover) and go completely digital. The plan, which has been in place for several years and prompted a multi-million dollar ad and voucher campaign to help viewers make the switch, drew concern from the incoming administration as there are still thousands of people waiting for digital converter vouchers and no money to pay for them. It seems that the free $40 voucher, which is meant to help absorb the cost of a digital to analog converter box, was so popular that the entire program funding was depleted with a month to go, leaving thousands in the lurch until the more then 40% of unused vouchers were recycled and reprocessed for redistribution. And that’s where the perceived problem came.

Ovei offers luxurious environment in a pod

If I were to travel in space, I sure as heck hope that I get one of these Ovei pods instead of being frozen in a cyrogenic chamber as Lt. Ripley was in the film Aliens. After all, feeling like a piece of meat in a fridge is no fun, and the Ovei pod from Oculas Group offers way more entertainment options. It won’t be for the ordinary Joe on the streets though, as the base of the Ovei starts from £50,000 upwards. Inside, you will find a 5.1 surround sound system, a 26″ LCD display, climate control and all that jazz to keep you comfortable throughout your journey, although with that amount of money, you can always spruce up your room with much more than what you’re getting from the Ovei. Of course, it won’t be that cool, but spending such an obscene amount of money in these economically tough times isn’t exactly the best idea in the world.
