November 6th, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

Going green is the in thing these days, and many appliances released also have the environment in mind - same goes for the Morphy Richards Ecolectric Toaster. Not only does this toaster use up less energy, it is able to make toast faster, courtesy of its auto-close lid which retains all the heat when cooking. Main features include :-

  • Energy efficient – uses 35% less energy than standard 2-slice toasters
  • Auto-close lid retains heat for fast toasting
  • Deep vari-width toasting chamber for skinny to fat slices
  • Even browning every time
  • Motorized bread carriage does the work for you
  • Cook two slices at once
  • Stylish black and silver model
  • Delicious toast that costs you less

£34.95 is what Gizoo is currently asking for the Ecolectric Toaster. Why not go green this holiday season and get the missus something nice like this if you’re on a tight budget?

The odd but inexpensive Sweater Dryer

November 5th, 2008 by Ally in Home Gadgets

Drying sweaters is a task that if you have a lack of places to hang dry them, it can be obnoxious.  Besides that, if you want to wear it anytime soon you’re out of luck.  Some are so bulky that it can take at least 24 hours before it’s actually completely dry.  However, tossing them in the dryer could mean shrinking and for the more delicate things it could mean the end of them.  Although this gadget looks like a strange new musical instrument, it’s actually a way to dry your clothing that shouldn’t go through the dryer.

Crosswater Rio Light Circular Shower Head

November 5th, 2008 by Edwin in Home Gadgets

Feeling a little bit flush around the pockets, and can’t wait to splurge all that newly acquired money? Well, here’s a home improvement idea for you - the Crosswater Rio Light Circular Shower Head.

RIO, a brand new ultra thin shower head providing a spectrum of stunning color effects with 96 LED lights programmable by a key pad. The low consumption LED lamps create a column of water and light with a diameter of 400mm working perfectly with 3 bar pressure. The shower head includes the shower arm. We recommend a minimum operating pressure of 3 bar.

At £2,191.30 a pop, only the well heeled need apply. As for the ordinary working class, we can get back to our dreary lives, waiting for the clock to turn 5 so that we can punch out and head towards the local tavern for some ethanol-induced relief.

Verizon FiOS TV offers “home enterstayment”

November 5th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Home Gadgets

As we all know, times are getting harder by the day with the global economy fast plunging into a downward spiral, although hope of a recovery is there, it won’t arrive until quite some time down the road. For many of us who already have our basic needs fulfilled (three square meals a day, clothing and shelter), we tend to ask for more, and this is where entertainment comes in. With belts being tightened all over the world, it makes perfect sense for the average Joe to find more affordable ways to keep themselves entertained (while distracting their minds away from the cares and concern of the world, albeit temporarily). The Verizon FiOS TV is here to help, offering the option to view movies and TV shows from the comfort of your home, without having to even step foot outside, hence saving on gas, parking, food and other miscellaneous expenses.

Sky Factory’s SkyV HD Virtual Skylight

November 4th, 2008 by Mark R in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

It seems like just yesterday that I was reporting on Samsung putting an OLED display on a window pane. In fact, it was yesterday. This next product is very similar, as it is a Virtual Skylight.

The company that made the SkyV HD Virtual Skylight is Sky Factory, and it allows the user to have a realistic skylight without putting a hole in their roof. These three HD LCD screens allow you to watch skies, birds flying over, trees swaying in the breeze, or just about anything else you want to program in it.

Western Digital unveils TV Media Player

November 3rd, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Western Digital might be large on hard drives, but that doesn’t mean that they churn out nothing but said peripheral all day long. This time round, we have something for the living room in the form of the WD TV Media Player. What makes this device so special? Well, it allows you to play your digital movies and videos in full High Definition (really, that all depends on what format the media file was saved in, including the resolution, aspect ratio and other metadata) on your HDTV without the need for turning on the computer. Instead, you are able to store those files in a USB flash drive or portable hard drive, connect it to the WD TV Media Player which in turn is hooked up to your HDTV, and you’re good to go.

Victor Multi-Kill is definitely a better mousetrap

November 3rd, 2008 by Mark R in Home Gadgets

Sure, a lot of homeowners have problems with mice. No one likes to pry the little critters off of glue traps, or cleaning up their bloody carcasses from the snapping traps.

There’s a new product called the Victor Multi-Kill trap that allows for an easier way to kill tiny mice pests with minimal mess. These better mousetraps allow the mice to be killed with a high-voltage electric shock guaranteed to bring a mouse out of the world of the living in less than five seconds.

The company who makes the Multi-Kill claims this device can remove a household’s rodent problem in one single night. As far as the fried bodies of the mice are concerned, they get dumped into a collection box for easy disposal. The company calls this feature the Shock N’Drop Chamber.
