Iomega DVR Expander Drive

June 10th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Iomega has a brand new DVR Expander Drive for the masses, and this time round they have increased the capacity to 500GB which bodes well for folks who are way too busy in their daily schedules to catch up on all the shows that they want to watch - the only drawback that I can think of is the fact that with so much storage space, one will most probably end up with a backlog of shows to catch up with and won’t even have the time to finish up a mountain of recorded movies. Well, that’s another problem to solve, but we won’t be looking at that today. In a nutshell, the new Iomega DVR Expander Drive, offers enough space to store up to 300 hours of stand definition TV or 60 hours of high definition TV. More details are available after the jump.

June 9th, 2008 by James in Home Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

Summer is here! And that means hours, if not days lazily lounging poolside enjoying the summer sun, the music, and a refreshing beverage. Too bad you have to get out for a refill. Or do you?

Big Wave Trampoline: Slippery When Wet

June 9th, 2008 by AndrewD in Home Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

If underwater pogo-sticking isn’t your style of extreme summer fun, there are plenty of other ways to get your dose of cool water in the summer heat while putting your precious body at risk. Trampolines aren’t the safest of activities even when they aren’t soaked in a layer of fall-inducing water, but add a little bit of slip-and-slide fun, and you have yourself a toy made for the most daring of kids.

The 13′ Big Wave Trampoline mixes the fun of jumping up and down over and over again at unsafe heights with the slippery nature of a puddle of water. The tramp is usable dry as well, but the real fun begins after you whip out the hose and fill the trampoline to its water volume capacity.

Underwater Pogo Stick

June 9th, 2008 by Edwin in Home Gadgets, Sport

Go jumping on a pogo stick while underwater - at least that’s what this neat little gizmo claims to be able to do. I’m pretty impressed, to say the least.

This is the only pogo stick designed for use in swimming pools that allows you to perform a variety of waterborne stunts as you bounce off walls or bottoms. A rigid ball filled with water fits into the non-slip footrest, providing responsive push-off when compressed against a pools floor with your body weight, enabling you to splash effortlessly in shallower water and bound powerfully through deeper water. The stick is made from heavy-duty ABS plastic with two rubber handlebars for a firm grip. For use with in-ground pools with solid surfaces.

Since summer’s around the corner, why not prepare yourself for a time of fun with friends and family? The Underwater Pogo Stick retails for $59.95.

Lil Guppie Multi-tool

June 8th, 2008 by Edwin in DIY Gadgets, Home Gadgets

I don’t think it will be an everyday situation when you find that you’ll need the Lil Guppie Multi-tool to get you out of a tight spot, but somehow having this item around makes me feel safer, knowing I have an avenue to bail myself out of sticky situations that requires tools of some sort.

The adjustable wrench on the Lil Guppie Multi-tool opens to 10 mm so it can be used for light repairs and assembly jobs. The carabiner is great for attaching to a D-ring, belt loop or backpack. The high-carbon stainless steel blade has a razor sharp edge and can be opened or closed with one hand. The tail of the Guppie is a flat blade screwdriver that can handle smaller size screws in a pinch and the base of the jaw is a Phillips screwdriver. The curved fin is a built-in bottle opener. The Guppie also comes with a detachable stainless steel pocket clip that makes a great money clip.

In essence, it packs in a steel blade, an adjustable wrench, a carabiner, a flat screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a pocket/money clip, and a bottle opener when you get thirsty after finishing all that hard work. $19.99 is the asking price.

Voice Interactive Alarm Clock

June 8th, 2008 by Edwin in Cool Clocks, Home Gadgets

Forget about throwing your alarm clock or smashing it to keep it quiet when it rings - the new Voice Interactive Alarm Clock ought to add another novelty item to your bedroom.

This unique alarm clock uses advanced speech recognition technology that lets you easily set the time and alarm via voice commands and responds to queries such as What time is it with vocalized answers. The unit recognizes 10 spoken commands, including Set alarm, Set time, Check alarm, What is the date, Alarm sound (buzzer, chime, or bell), Stop (snooze for 5 minutes), and Temperature (current room temperature). All functions are controlled either by your voice or with a touch of the activation panel, allowing you to quickly set up and operate the clock without tedious and confusing button pressing. The backlit LCD shows the time and date in 2″-high numerals for optimal visibility day or night. The clock also has a voice-activated function that lulls you to sleep with the soothing sounds of the ocean, chirping birds, or a babbling brook.

You can choose to power this via an AC adapter or a trio of AAA batteries - I’d strongly recommend the former if you’re going to be at home all the time. $49.95 is the asking price for the Voice Interactive Alarm Clock.
