Solar-Powered Bird Bath

July 27th, 2006 by Liam in Garden Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Solar-Powered Bird Bath
This gadget would give a neat look to your yard, and would probably attract a lot of birds. The Solar-Powered Bird Bath is an elegant looking bird bath with a built in pump which is completely solar-powered!

You can do away with having dirty, neglected bird baths which attract nothing but insects. Since this bird bath has a built in pump, the water is constantly recirculating so it won’t lay stagnant for months on end and collect dirt.

BBQ Spatula With Thermometer

July 27th, 2006 by Liam in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

BBQ Spatula With Thermometer
If you’re terrible at judging when meat is done on the BBQ, or just prefer to let gadgets do small tasks like that for you, then this gadget would be perfect for you. This BBQ spatula has a built in meat-thermometer so you can easily tell when your meat is done and even let you appear to know what you’re doing as it’s cleverly disguised as a regular utensil!

Jutting out from the side of the spatula is a small thermometer probe which you can easily stick into the meat. On the handle there is an LCD display which gives you a temperature reading, easy as that. The spatula uses two AAA batteries.

Auto Faucet Attachement

July 27th, 2006 by Al in Home Automation, Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

Faucet SwitchWhy Washing your hands isn’t hygienic:

  • Finish on the loo
  • Turn on tap (faucet is one of those words that just sounds odd to me) leaving germs on the tap in the process
  • Wash germs off hands
  • Turn off tap wiping germs back on to hands

Not ideal but a solution is at via the DIY Automatic Water Faucet. Read the rest of this entry »

Slide Lights

July 26th, 2006 by Liam in Home Gadgets, Photography

Slide Lights
This is a really cool idea for a gadget if you like to display your photos and need some unobtrusive light to complete the mood of a room. Slide Lights allows you to fill a column of light with pictures which glow from the light behind them giving you some extra light as well as an interesting way to display your photos.

They’re very easy to use, as you simply slide the pictures into the slots. Your pictures must be taken with standard slide film which allows your pictures to be seen with the light. Also available are “slide sets” which include groups of colorful photographs ready to be put into your slide light.

Available are 3 different sizes of lights beginning at 2′ which can hold 13 slides, 4′ which can hold 25 slides and 6′ which can hold 36 slides. You can also put the slide lights horizontally if you want to lay the light on a table, shelf or just along the wall.

Slide lights range in price from £99.95 to £149.95 depending on which size you need and are available from Gadget Storm. Also available from Gadget Storm are Slide Sets.

An Old-Fashioned Approach to Email

July 25th, 2006 by Liam in Home Gadgets

Celery
This gadget probably sounds quite funny to anyone reading about it, however for the less technologically inclined, it may be the greatest thing since sliced bread (which they probably witnessed!). Basically, the Celery emailing system allows you to send emails without having to own a computer.

The Celery device is basically a printer and scanner. To send an email, you simply write out the email, put it in the slot, press 2 buttons and your email is scanned and sent to the recipient. Very easy!

Sanitizing Steamer

July 24th, 2006 by Randal in Home Gadgets

Sanitizing Steamer Killing Germs! Germ phobic people are on the rise. Well, not on the rise exactly because most of them cower in their homes fastidiously applying and reapplying hand sanitizer. Maybe it would be more appropriate to say that germ phobic people are proliferating throughout society. Take the case of the model who “invented” a strip of nylon she could loop over the hand rails of subway cars so she wouldn’t have to touch them barehanded. Gloves anyone? No mention was made of what to do with the icky germ-laden nylon strap after a quick trip downtown for a fat-free latte and diet pills. If that model had true foresight she would have bundled her revolutionary nylon strap with the Sanitizing Steamer from Sharper Image.
