Wireless object locator for the home

June 6th, 2006 by Paz in Home Gadgets

Wireless object finer

I can never find my car keys, my wallet and the TV remote control.

I probably spend hours every month looking for items around the home, and I’m sure many of you are often in a similar situation. In fact, I know I’m not the only person in the world with this problem, because now there’s an inexpensive  gadget to help people quickly find important items by tagging them and using an RF locator to pinpoint their position in seconds.

Remote Control Swinging Doors

June 5th, 2006 by Al in Home Automation, Home Gadgets

Remote Controlled DoorI’m getting quite into home automation at the moment. I’ve just got a Roomba vacuum (blew it up on the first day so more to follow on that one) but disappointedly it cannot open doors, this is where this remote controlled swinging door could come in handy.

You attach the swinging door opener to to the top of your door (and wall). You are then able to open the door via remote control. This could be useful for disabled dwellings or just plain OTT in most houses. Still looks like a cool gadget to me though :).

Available from SmartHome but be warned it’s quite pricey. [Found via Gizmos for Geeks]

The Inflatable Affordable Spa

June 3rd, 2006 by Al in Garden Gadgets

Inflatable Spa

Having a spa in your backyard is a sure sign of decadence. Generally they’ve been pretty pricey and far from usable year round in the UK, so only a permille of the population have one in the back garden. Today I came across the Lay-z-Spa which is both portable and relatively cheap.
