Emma Orange Peeler
October 8th, 2006 by Al in Kitchen Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets
I just saw this gadget posted in our forums (thanks tator03) the Emma Orange Peeler, the easy way to peel oranges.
It looks like a simple solution to a messy problem and as it only costs $5 seems like a worthy investment, unless you like licking your fingers that is.
The Emma Orange Peeler is available online from SatinBox.
Dyson CR01 revolutionize laundry
October 7th, 2006 by Edwin in Home Automation, Home Gadgets
How many of you would rate the washing machine is one of the sexiest items in your homes? Definitely, almost positively none. Most washing machines are placed behind the house or down in the basement itself, and seldom would you bring your house guests to ogle at it as you prefer them to compliment you on your latest LCD HDTV sitting in the living room that is hooked up to a spanking new Home Theater PC. No siree, the old, greying washing machine will have to remain holed up and far away from the eyes of people. Enter the Dyson CR01 washing machine that will literally blow your thinking out of the water regarding this faithful but often under-appreciated home appliance.
The MP3 Pillow
October 6th, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets, iPod gadgets
If you love your iPod and can’t bear to be parted from it even when asleep then this is the solution, the MP3 Pillow, a pillow shaped like an iPod.
Not only does the pillow offer traditional pillow functionality it also incorporates a speaker so you can listen to tunes while you snooze. To finish things off and make this one of the coolest iPod accessories going, the buttons on the pillow actually work, so once connected to your player you can control it by poking your pillow.
The MP3 Pillow is available from Think Geek for $19.95.
WARNING: Probably advisable to remove your music player before getting involved in any pillow fights.
Ambient Light Flat Panel TVs
October 5th, 2006 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets
I’m currently in the midst’s of a house move, one of the great benefits of which is I’ve been given “permission” to kit out the living room as a home cinema. From a gadget point of view this is great as it means I’ll need to get a load of new kit including:
- Flat Panel TV (Plasma or LCD, not sure which yet)
- New surround sound system
- Media PC (I’ll probably reuse an old one for this but Mac Minis do look cool)
ADEL Fingerprint Door Lock System
October 2nd, 2006 by Tiago in Home Automation
I have never been a fan of fingerprint door lock systems but this one looks interesting to say the least, to start with it automatically locks the door after you leave your house – so no worries about that aspect. One point that worries me in this kind of door locks is how easy it might be for a thief to damage the device with a screw driver or any objects that burglars use - is it hard enough or just simple enough? Considering that during the installation part there is only the need to connect one wire to get it to work, the opposite process shouldn’t be too hard unless we count with the alarm system.
