October 28th, 2006 by Mike in Kitchen Gadgets

Cuisinart Pressure Cooker
Until today, I had never before heard the term pressure cooker. But they exist, and a can cook some foods as much as 70% faster while keeping the taste just as good.

This particular Cuisinart Pressure Cooker is great for cooking barbecue short ribs all the way to simmering chili.

Control your shower wirelessly

October 27th, 2006 by Mike in Home Gadgets

Wireless Shower System
The perfect way to start your morning would be to have your hot morning shower already started. Unfortunately the only way for most people to achieve this luxury is to have someone wake up a few minutes before you do and start the shower manually. Good luck finding someone for that job.

Of course, if you’ve got the cash for a Grohtherm wireless shower system, you’ll be able to enjoy that luxury everyday and all you’ll need to do is press a button.

Verilux Rise & Shine Natural Alarm Clock

October 25th, 2006 by Tiago in Cool Clocks, Home Gadgets

Verilux Rise and Shine Natural Alarm Clock

We already covered a great amount of alarm clocks with the most special ones being the Grenade and the Flying alarms, these two really make you get out of bed in order to turn the alarm off so you can start the 10 minute siesta before bath/breakfast. Another honorable mention goes to the Rev-Olution alarm that fits the car fanatics style and I’m sure they love it.

But… enough talking about other alarm clocks, so lets start today’s subject – the Verilux Rise & Shine Natural Alarm Clock.

As you can see on the image this is a 2-in-1 gadget that combines a stylish bedside lamp + alarm clock (it can be considered a 3-in-1 gadget since you can listen to radio as well.), this means that you will probably save space on your bedside table, and money too. Read the rest of this entry »

DNA Art (Part 2)

October 25th, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Fingerprint ArtWe wrote about DNA art earlier in the year, I just came across it again today and still find it particularly cool (if somewhat expensive) so thought I’d write about their products in a bit more detail (who knows they may even send me a freebie :)).

The cheapest form of DNA art that dna11 sell is the FingerPrint Portrait. With these you choose what style of print you want (there are such choices as Earth Mist and Pop Mango) and make an order. They then send you a fingerprint collection kit, which you complete and send back. Then in 4-6 weeks you have your own totally unique and personalised piece of art. Prices for the FingerPrint Portrait start at $190.

The Everingham Rotating House

October 24th, 2006 by Tiago in Home Gadgets

The Rotating Home

Well, it’s not everyday we see a rotating house (unless you live near Wingham on Australia), so it was a real shock when I checked the Everingham Rotating House, it really rotates 360º with the help of “central core of plumbing and electricals”, besides that main detail it’s full of good features, for instance:

  • the octagonal shape is able to offer the rooms (and other parts of the house) more space than a normal house
  • it uses plenty of windows and glass doors so you can appreciate the view, it will suck if you live on a place with awful view - the horizons being buildings

Monitor your plants with PlantSense

October 23rd, 2006 by Mike in Garden Gadgets, USB Gadgets

PlantSense
It’s a fact of life: some people just aren’t good with plants. No matter what they do, and even if they have the automatic plant watering system, their plants always end up dead within a matter of weeks. If you think all you need is a little help when it comes to gardening, PlantSense is here to help you out.

The PlantSense steak looks like a regular garden steak, and it pretty much is, except for the sensors and USB port that is.

The (not so) Automatic Toothpaste Dispenser

October 22nd, 2006 by Mike in Home Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Automatic Toothpaste Dispenser
It can just ruin your morning, you go to brush your teeth only to find the cap is all full of old tooth paste and then you have to spend the next minute pushing the last few drops of tooth paste out of the tube.

There’s a $60 solution to that problem, the Automatic Toothpaste Dispenser. It’s still up in the air whether or not this is a practical solution (and whether or not that problem is even practical :))

Ypsilon Office Chair is fully adjustable

October 20th, 2006 by Edwin in Home Gadgets

ypsilon-chair.jpgThe Ypsilon Office Chair not only comes with a strange spelling, but it also looks as if it was spawned from another planet. Those with a fear of dentists will most probably avoid the Ypsilon Office Chair as it reminds them of painful experiences while extracting a molar or two. All the morphs and levers that you see on this piece of office furniture is there for a very good reason - it enables the user to adjust up to 10 different settings that are available, including seat height, depth, height of back, headrest, backrest pressure, backrest position, lumbar support, armrest height, armrest angle and arm supports.
